Art exhibition of childhood objects – “My Tracy Island”

I have been away this week in Lancashire, supporting my artist husband through the opening of his new exhibition at the Harris Museum & Art Gallery in Preston city centre.

The exhibition is named My Tracy Island in recognition of some of the Thunderbirds toys included in the artwork – and surely everyone can remember collecting margarine tubs to make their own Blue Peter version of the famous Tracy Island (or making it for their kids)!

Its a really fun exhibition of photographic works that focus on childhood toys and objects which evoke memories of youth and play. Fingers crossed, there will be something in the collection cabinets that you can relate a personal memory to.

Here’s the link to his website http://andy-greenacre.co.uk/default.aspx and the blog mytracyisland.wordpress.com for the exhibition – have a look for more pics of the exhibition, opening event and curation of the show.

If you get the chance please do visit the exhibition, which runs from 20th July until 17th September – it’ll be an interesting day out and please let me know what you think of the art! Here’s the museums website: http://www.harrismuseum.org.uk/
