Can an American play our British Princess? Diana biopic is cast…

Lets play a quick game of spot-the-difference. Here are photos of Princess Diana and the actress who is set to play Diana in a biopic directed by Downfall‘s Olivier Hirschbiegel.

Jessica Chastain of The Help and the Cannes Film Festival hit The Tree of Life, has just been cast as the English princess in the story of Diana’s relationship with ‘the love of her life’ Hasnat Kahn. Written by Steven Jeffreys, the biopic is entitled Caught In Flight and is rumoured to portray Diana in a less-than-favourable way during her relationship with Dr Kahn, whom she dated after her divorce from Prince Charles.

So I wonder how the British public will respond to the German directors’ and American actress’ portrayal of ‘the people’s princess’? I suspect there will be grumblings afoot similar to when the Shakespeare film Anonymous was released earlier this month. We Brits love something to complain about and what better than a good old whinge about the inaccuracies of a film script.
