And Marilyn was right. The right pair of shoes can make you walk taller, feel more confident and, if necessary, cause significant pain when deployed in the ‘special’ area of menfolk.
The new film My Week With Marilynpays such amazing attention to detail that all of the costumes are spot-on, depicting precisely what Monroe wore on those exact days in history. And most fun for me was looking at her shoes (of course).
The film shows us that Marilyn (here played by Michelle Williams) favoured ladylike court shoes and classic colours and had led me to look for the more demure shoes available on the high street . Not only are these heels understatedly sexy, but the neutral colours will go with anything and, most importantly, you can actually walk in them.
Here are my favourite ladylike shoes from New Look (in winter white), Debenhams (in ivory satin) and Dorothy Perkins (in patent cream):
