Christmas eve & the big day – What are your traditions?

Over the years, families develop their own Christmas traditions and this year I’ll be upholding our family tradition of new pyjamas on Christmas eve and my own personal tradition of eating a Cadbury’s Crunchie whilst opening my Christmas stocking!

When I was young Santa used to visit us on Christmas eve (on his sleigh/trailer) in our village and give us a present – it was only when I’d turned 16 year that this tradition faded away; in particular when Santa stopped being so keen on delivering a prezzie to me & my then teenage brothers when there were ‘actual’ children in the village to prioritise! We still go outside on Christmas eve to wave at the sleigh going past though!

This year for me also marks the end of a tradition of going to Mum’s on Christmas day and starts the new tradition of having Christmas at my Brother’s new home. Plus I’ll be on mulled wine duty this year and for once not cooking the Christmas dinner!

Please share with me your own Christmas traditions – Queen’s speech, washing up duties, when you open your presents etc, I’d love to know what goes on at your home over Christmas!
