Back to school – why its the best time of year!

Its September and the new school term is starting, and for most of my life this has meant packing up my satchel (yes, I still have one) and heading off to school, 6th form, college and university. And I love this time of year. It’s a new beginning, with new possibilities – you’ll be meeting potential new friends, there’ll be new lessons to be learnt and new things to experience. Not to mention the new stationary you’ll be needing to buy. You’ll certainly need an academic diary, a fresh notebook and a couple of new pens (maybe even a pink one for important notes) and definitely a highlighter for all those texts that you’ll be studying this year…

At university, it’s also Freshers’ week and that’s the craziest week of the year, with non-stop nights out for the first fortnight and wacky fancy dress themes – tis the time of year to take the photos that are going to be blu-tacked to your walls in your uni halls for the rest of the year! So get your uniform on for ‘skool disco night’, grab your neon tutu and legwarmers for ’80s rave night’ and remember to wash off your blue facepaint after ‘smurf night’ and make it a Fresher’s week to remember!

And finally, September is also the best time of the year because it’s nearly Christmas. Yes, the shops will be clearing out their summer swimwear and bbq-kits and hauling in crates of cards, tons of tinsel and my favourite thing ever – fairy lights! And I’ll be getting just… too… excited!
