Tuesday Shoesday ~ Perfect weather – for tights…

Some items have been gifted

For this week’s Tuesday Shoesday I’m focusing on what’s going on my legs before I put my shoes on. Okay, I know it’s an odd time of year to be talking about tights, but I assure you – there’s good reason for it!  Firstly, you can get a real bargain on tights during the summer – the sales are full of them, and you know you’re going to need them in 2 months time – so buy stock up now while they are cheap and you’ll be able to get better quality for lower prices.

I know you might laugh, but I’ve just bought 2 pairs of thermal tights from UKTights because they were on offer – these tights are lined with a fleecy layer and are so warm and cosy. They don’t slip down during the day (one of my pet hates) and don’t go saggy around the knee. I’ve got a footless pair too and I’m feeling smug because I know I’ll be wearing them pretty much every day during the autumn & winter.

But it’s not just about getting tights for winter, I also bought 3 pairs of ‘summer’ tights. How can they be? Well these are sheer tights and I sometimes just don’t want to go bare-legged in the summer. A bit of a breeze can bring out the goose-pimples and turn tanned legs to a fetching shade of purple. So on these days I want to wear this pair of ‘pin-up-girl’ sheer polka-dot tights for a but of warmth and to look super-cool in my tea-dress! I also got some low denier nude tights because I have very pale legs  (reflective, sometimes) and on days when I’d like to look less-than ghostly but don’t want to fake-tan, I will be wearing a pair of ultra-fine toeless tights, so that I can still slip on my summer sandals and no-one will know – without looking very closely – that I’m wearing tights. Feeling smug again!

Plus, while I was shopping online, I took a chance on these printed tights because they were such a bargain. I couldn’t see a photo of the colourway, but I chose the black option (red seemed a  little ‘too much’ for me!) and thought I’d be getting sheer black tights with black stars but when they arrived I was pleased to see that they were a thicker black pair with white stars. Again, I won’t be wearing them for 3 months, but I will definitely be enjoying them at Christmas (I know, the ‘C’ word already, sorry!) with a knitted dress and snuggly snow boots!

  1. Haha, the trouble is that I’m getting a little addicted to buying bargain tights in the summer, I’ve got a whole stash of them now! But I know I’ll wear them in only a couple of months, so why not?! x
