My first ever blog post…

On Friday I celebrated 3 years of blogging with a big chocolate chip sponge cake after accidentally finding out that my blog had reached this milestone. I was also treated to a big bottle of bubbly and am now looking forward to my 1000th blog post celebration in May – bring it on! Coincidentally, during Fairtrade Fortnight the previous week I wrote about my first ever attempt at blogging which was a Students’ Union Fairtrade challenge documented on my first ever blog for the Lancashire Evening Post back in 2007. Not long after sharing this news my mother got in touch to tell me that this was not my first ever blog post and she had evidence that I’d been a blogger for a lot longer… And here it is:

cassiefairy blogger first ever blog post

Apparently THIS was my first ever blog post! Even though I was about 5 years old and the Internet wouldn’t be invented until the next decade, mum insists that this must have been my first ever attempt at blogging. It’s all about a trip to nanny’s house where I ate a “pice of cake” and my brother rode on his “sacket gord” (skateboard) in the “gardon”. Perhaps I’m being a little harsh on myself and that ‘g’ a really just very swish ‘b’? Anyway, what do you think of my first ever news article? Blog-worthy?

In other news, I started to do more research on Fairtrade and Traidcraft after writing about the fortnight on the blog and was pointed in the direction of Ethical Consumer magazine. It aims to discover the truth behind the products we buy and the companies we buy them from through detailed product guides, news of ethical products and campaigns, in-depth features etc so I have decided to subscribe. I’ve signed up for a 6 month subscription through Unique Magazines – which means I’ll receive 3 bi-monthly issues – and I can’t wait for the first one to arrive. I’ll share more about Ethical Consumer magazine when the first issue of my subscription arrives so watch this space!

And finally, what do you think I should do to celebrate my 1000th blog post? A party? Write and share a free E-book? Another cake? A big giveaway? Get in touch with your suggestions!
