Ideas for DIYing the perfect personalised wedding gift

Advertisement feature

Giving someone a personalised wedding gift is a great way to show family, friends and loved ones how much they mean to you. Many people are turning away from traditional engagements and weddings, and asking for gifts from a wedding list is less popular than in recent years. Even though most people will already have the traditional gifts that used to be popular at weddings such as toasters, silverware and china sets, they’ll still love to receive a special gift from you on their big day. To avoid getting a rather impersonal and quite frankly boring gifts that many people end up giving during the wedding season, consider making a unique creations or giving a personal gift that someone will remember and truly appreciate. Be inspired by the following ideas to give someone special something special on their wedding day!

Frame a special photo

This is a low-cost but unique way to show someone how much they mean to you. If there is a photo of either the bride or groom (or both) with you, perhaps when you were children, or during another memorable occasion that means something to you, frame it and give it to them as a wedding gift.  You can buy a quality frame from specialist sites such as Best4Frames and give it as a gift, or for an even more personal touch, you can decorate the frame as well. You can also choose to frame the wedding invitation they gave you or add the date of the wedding to the back of the frame.

Go for an antique

Have a look at second-hand stores, flea markets, and antique stores to find a unique gift with its own history. You won’t have to worry about anyone else having the same gift as you either! Look for a statement piece that the couple can have in their home, but make sure that it isn’t too big or imposing as they may not have space or the setting to fit a large item. If you know the couple well and are aware of their tastes, then this is a good option. If however, you are not sure whether they will appreciate a painting or sculpture then stay away from this as it can be so easy to get it wrong!

Create a luxury hamper

Creating your own luxury hamper allows you to save money on buying a ready-made hamper as well as allowing you to choose exactly what goes into it. You can tailor the hamper to suit the couple and their taste, filling it with chocolates, liqueurs, preserves and other goodies. Make sure you include non-perishable items that they can choose to sample at a later date. The decoration of the hamper is where you can get particularly creative. Purchase a beautiful handmade basket and line it with a special cloth or small blanket that they can also re-use when they have finished the contents of the hamper.
