Tuesday Shoesday – The ultimate espadrilles

Some items have been gifted

It’s not often that I write a brand feature on my blog but after following the development of Alice X over the past couple of years I couldn’t resist writing about the long-awaited launch of the collection. With colourful designs, traditional construction and unstoppable sass, these shoes deserve to be shouted about a little. Plus, you can win a pair in your choice of style, colour and size worth £110 in my giveaway so read on to enter now..!When I first heard about Alice X it was during a Kickstarter campaign a year or so ago. The inspirational woman behind the business is Alice Peacock, who was determined to bring her idea of creating the ultimate espadrille to life. With quality and craft at the heart of the business, it was no surprise that supporters flocked around to bring these stunning shoes to life – myself included.

That’s not to say that it’s been an easy ride – Alice herself will tell you that it’s been a really long trek to get to this stage with many setbacks along the way. She spent 3 long years developing the concept, sourcing the best materials, meeting with craftspeople and finalising the designs before launching her business. But, boy, was it worth the wait! The debut collection features 6 different colour combinations, which makes me want to collect then all, haha! That said, I had to make a decision when it came to choosing my own pair of Alice X shoes, so I opted to the colours that I thought would match most of my wardrobe; the blue, white and grey BORA design. These have an undeniable coastal vibe and, seeing as I spend my of my time by the sea, they are perfect for summer walks along the promenade.Let me tell you a little bit more about the materials: the shoes are crafted from soft leather but it’s not just the colourful outer that’s made from such a high quality fabric; even the lining inside is a comfortable leather that hugs your feet as you walk. The classic 4000 year-old espadrille design has been updated for the modern era with a sturdy natural jute sole that’ll take all the holiday strolls you want to put them through. Each pair is hand-finished, with a reinforced stitched toe and turned seams so that they last for years to come (and look really beautiful too). I’ve only been wearing my Alice X shoes for a couple of weeks but already they have softened to the shape of my foot and have become ‘part of me’. I can wear them all day long without a pinch and they are just the thing for taking me from beach to beer garden (you can tell what I’ve been up to this summer, eh?!) I think that my next pair will be the brand new pastel design for 2017, I’m already loving those My Little Pony colours! Which would you choose? If you want to see the collection for yourself, they are stocked in Summer Suitcase in London and in Ark in Cambridge and, of course, you can browse the lookbook and buy online via the Alice X website. Be sure to follow their social accounts too – the AliceXGlobal instagram gallery is one of the most colourful and design-led I’ve ever seen. Now, here’s your chance to get your hands of a pair of Alice X espadrilles for yourself, worth £110! 1. I like Bora and Cabo but I’ll go for Bora as it means Morning in welsh, and for me Bora is the best part of the day.

  2. They are all gorgeous but I’d choose Bora only because they would go beautifully with all the colours I like to wear

  3. I absolutely love the Cala, they are simply stunning. The pastel shades are the perfect shades for my holiday!

  4. Omg wow these are gorgeous! I love the colourful ones, I feel like they match my wardrobe better (I must wear completely different clothes to you)

  5. Bora is my favourite. Such beautiful and bright colours, sure to put a smile on your face!

  6. My favourite design has to be the RICO design! I love any bold shoe that makes a statement!

  7. I like Rico best though I probably shouldn’t be wearing such bright colours. I forget I am nearly 60.
