The anticipation of Strictly… lets dance!

It’s that in-between week. That Saturday after the launch but before the live shows start. I’ve watched the Strictly Come Dancing intro launch show and it’s got me hungry for more glitz, glamour and epic dancing. But for now, we wait.Does anyone else feel like this? Are you every so excited about a TV show starting that you just can’t wait. For me, Strictly Come Dancing marks the start of the run up to Christmas. I know that by the time these celebs have been voted off, one-by-one, Santa will be on his way. Maybe that’s why I love it so much, or perhaps it’s actually the dancing.

Yes, that’s me and hubby on the dance floor, woo!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know how much of a keen dancer I am. I’ve studied Lindy Hop and the Charleston for years. That’s not to say that I’m any good at it, but I love to swing dance nonetheless. You might have spotted some previous posts on the subject because I’ve written about my love of a good jive a few times over the years.

I also blogged about my epic trip to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and how I took foxtrot lessons in preparation for a whirl around the famous dance floor. I’ve since learnt a few waltz steps, the chachacha and the rumba, so I’m sure that next time I’m in Blackpool, I’ll be able to spend much more time on the dance floor. In fact, I’m planning to make a trip up north again sometime soon – maybe to coincide with Strictly at Blackpool, who knows? Fingers crossed we get show tickets in the ballot! The good news is that I have my ballroom dancing shoes at the ready, and a new floral tea dress that I bought from the charity shop to wear whenever I eventually make it back onto that sprung dance floor. Can’t wait!Even if I can’t get onto the dance floor myself this year, I’ll definitely be watching the pros on Strictly every week from now on, and I’m hoping to learn some tips at the same time! That’s right, it’s not just entertainment, it’s educational too.

Anyway, week 1 of Strictly Come Dancing starts next Saturday night on the 23rd and I for one can’t wait. Who’s with me? Bring it on!
