Beauty Review – The Porefessional by Benefit & get it free with Glamour magazine!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of this month’s Glamour magazine, which has been very sparsely stocked in the local newsagent’s due to the fabulous Benefit freebies being given away with the July 2012 copy.

Glamour is offering a choice of 3 Benefit beauty treats including a mascara, primer and the cult favourite Porefessional pore minimiser, which is what I plumped for at the newstand. The packaging looks gorgeous with lovely ice-cream colours and retro cartoon image, really cute!

I couldn’t wait to try out the product so I popped a bit on immediately (yes, it can be used over make up) and it was a lovely silky texture that settled onto my skin nicely. When I’ve tried it before applying makeup I got even better results; it certainly does minimise pores and fine lines, and I found that I needed to use less of my foundation than normal. It lasted well on my face – a good day’s worth and although this tester product is only a 7.5ml tube you only really need a tiny squirt of the liquid so I expect it’ll still last me a while and I’m just pleased to be able to test out a product on my own skin before buying the full-size version.

So get your hands on these freebies (apparently worth at least £10 each) before they sell out! Plus you’ve got a magazine to enjoy too and this issue is Glamour’s famous Woman of the Year 2012 copy, so different covers featuring the winning ladies are available with each product – Mine has Fearne Cotton looking glamourous in a fluffy faux-fur coat!

Let me know if you’ve tried out these Benefit freebies and what you think of them – leave me a comment below :)

Tuesday Shoesday – Jazzy jellies for seaside paddling

Do you remember jelly shoes? As a child I used to wear to wear jelly shoes all summer long – they kept your feet cool, were so comfy (and kind of moulded themselves to your feet in the hot weather) and you could go paddling at the seaside or in a river without worry of catching your foot on a spiky stone.

And now, jelly shoes are available for adults too! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw them in New Look and they’ve had a glamourous makeover to say the least – these nude sandals with diamanté studs (or this pair with an owl design below) would be pretty swish beach-wear this summer! Plus these glitter flip-flops come in a range of on-trend colours including coral, oatmeal, gold and turquoise.

Even the stars are strutting their stuff in jelly shoes this Summer season; Fearne Cotton and Kate Bosworth were both spotted in yellow jellies, Rihanna & Katy Perry have been stepping out in Vivienne Westwood’s heart jelly heels and Anne Hathaway (below) wore pretty princess pink:

As an alternative to the monstrous Crocs that have been the staple seaside shoe over recent years, jelly shoes seem much more retro, stylish and cute. It probably helps that they come in all kinds of styles, less-garish colours and even with heels for the ultra-glam among us – just look at these gorgeous sky blue Gucci Jelly Marola wedge shoes below!

Best of all, jelly shoes are pretty cheap starting at about £5, around £12-15 at New Look & Very.co.uk and going up to a relatively purse-friendly £60 for Vivienne Westwood’s designer offering. Plus I’d feel a little bit vintage-trendy wearing jelly sandals, especially if I could get these 80’s and 90’s style kiddies ones in my adult size: by Juju sandals at Very.co.uk and Urban Outfitters.
