Photos & review of VW Festival Alive & V-Dubbin 2012

Last weekend we attended the Alive & V-Dubbin festival hosted by VW enthusiast group Suffolk Bugrs at Jimmy’s Farm in Suffolk. We visited the festival on the final day, with the specific intention to view the main focus of the event; the show ‘n’ shine competition. We love seeing the best (and the worst if you’re talking ‘rat’ look!) VW campervans, beetles and even some more modern VW vehicles. My husband has been a lifelong campervan fan and although we don’t yet own one (they cost how much?!) we really enjoy picking out our favourites and casting our visitors choice vote.

Not only was there a good turn out of classic vehicles in the show ‘n’ shine event, but there was plenty of quality entertainment on the music stage and activities around the site, including a Segway course that my hubby had a go on, and promptly fell off!

It was also lovely that visitors could also stroll onto the main Jimmy’s Farm site and have a good look around the gardens and shop – plus (although we didn’t have time to do this, such a shame) they were offering access to the nature trail and woodland walks tour for only £1 to Alive & V-Dubbin visitors, which is a great idea and a bit of an added bonus!

All in all a thoroughly well-produced event, a very tidy site and even the food (notoriously over-priced at such events) was reasonably priced, freshly cooked and generously portioned! Nothing makes my day like having a massive portion of homemade chips for only £1.50. I’ll certainly be back for more if the event remains at Jimmy’s Farm again next year!
