Fashion Trendspotting – Sundae girl for spring

I was reading this month’s Cosmo and really enjoyed their Spring fashion pages including a story called “Sundae Girl” – ice cream colours and soft, flowing fabrics. It included some gorgeous looks for Spring and clothing that can be worn well into summer too. Here I’ve snapped some of my favourite looks from this shoot and am certainly getting that blouse in the last pic: it’s only £20 from F&F at Tesco – now that’s my kind of price!

Although I loved these pretty, girly outfits, unfortunately not all of the items were from supermarkets and some of were actually a bit too spendy for me, such as the Ted Baker dress in the top photo at £249 and the cute tutu skirt in the middle pic is £130 alone (from Disaya) – a little too much in my opinion, and that’s without the extra cost of the top, shoes and clutch!

So I thought about how I could re-create this ethereal girly look at home, and I’ve come up with a new style of tutu-skirt: something that is a bit more fashiony rather than fancy dress and I’ve made it in two colours so far – a nudey cream, which would be perfect for Spring/Summer 2013, and a sheer grey which could even be worn during the Autumn and Winter with some wooly tights!

Let me know what to you think about this new style of tulle skirt and whether you’ll be wearing the “Sundae girl” look this spring/summer season. )
