Tuesday Shoesday – A Day at the Races

This Tuesday Shoesday I’m gearing up for Ladies Day at Cheltenham Racecourse by sharing some of my favourite footwear choices for special occasions. I’ve searched long and hard to find some absolutely gorgeous colourful shoes for Spring/Summer 2015 and today I wanted to share these fabulous fashion finds with you.

There were a couple of criteria that I wanted my new footwear to fulfil – it had to be suitable for wearing on grass (so no stilettos!) and the shoes must be colourful. The theme of Ladies Day is #ColourMeMarch so wearing the brightest colours is essential. I have a couple of favourite colours so I’ve been keeping an eye out for any clothing and footwear that would coordinate well to create a fresh look for a day at the races.

When you know that an even is going to involve walking on grass, it’s a good idea to go for a shoe with a wedge sole. Not only great for outdoor sporting events such as ladies day, this style of heel is ideal for garden parties and even weddings. The chunkier heel means that you will be more stable on uneven surfaces and be less likely to sink into sodden turf. You’ll avoid getting muddy heels and ruining your shoes forever when your stilettos sink into the ground, and will also minimise the chance of an absolute nightmare trip when your kitten heel gets stuck in the mud. The only other way to avoid these mistakes is by wearing flats, but a special occasion like this usually calls for glitzy high heels so stick with wedges or very chunky heels like these below!

  1. Definitely! I can walk in any height of wedges but no chance of walking around all day in stilettos Haha! 🙂
