Tuesday Shoesday – Accessories to revive your summer wardrobe

Nobody wants to wear the same clothes, day in and day out. It’s way too boring. Unfortunately, though, investing in a whole new wardrobe every season is a costly exercise and unless you are made of money, not practical. But there is an alternative. With the aid of a few handy (and stylish) accessories it is very easy to revive a tired looking wardrobe. And if you are really clever, everyone will think you are wearing a whole new outfit!

Accessories are more than just a space-filler. The right accessories can transform a lack lustre outfit into something amazing. You don’t even need to spend lots of money on expensive accessories, although if you can afford to splash out on a statement piece of jewellery, it won’t be a bad investment. Scarves, costume jewellery, shoes, and hair bling are all useful to have around if your wardrobe needs an overhaul and you don’t have the spare cash to buy new garments. So if your wardrobe is in need of some CPR, here’s how to give it the kiss of life.

Sunglasses: Every girl needs a pair of decent quality sunglasses. They protect your eyes from harmful UV rays and give you a mysterious look when you are out and about. Sunglasses can be matched to any outfit, even in winter, but if you want to add a bit of flair, invest in some sexy designer Tom Ford sunglasses or similar. Not only will they look fabulous, but they will also last a lot longer than a cheap pair from the pound shop.

Scarves are so versatile you can use them to spice up any outfit, formal or informal. A simple silk scarf is great for adding some style to a plain shift dress. Check out videos on YouTube if you need some ideas on the different ways to tie a neck scarf. Neck scarves can also be worn around the head, to tie up long hair, or even as a belt. Be funky and do something different with your scarves.

Jewellery: Buying some cheap jewellery is an easy way to revamp your outfits. Brighten up a plain black dress with some bright, colourful costume jewellery; adorn your arms with chunky bangles; or add a pretty brooch to an old tailored jacket for a retro twist.

Hats: If you are looking for a way to change an outfit, throw a hat into the mix. They are also useful if you are having a bad hair day. Baseball caps are great for casual outfits, but don’t be afraid to try a different style of hat. Look at celebrities for inspiration if you are not sure what style of hat to go for.

And of course, shoes: They don’t need to be expensive shoes for summer; just a pair of low-cost pumps or bargain flip-flops will make all the difference to your summer wardrobe. You can turn a pair of winter jeans into a summer staple, by simply rolling up the legs a little and popping on a pair of sandals or canvas flats in a bright colour.

I hope this blog post has given you some ideas for summer and that you’ll invest in some cheap accessories  to help you feel as if you have a whole new holiday wardrobe!
