Last minute ‘instant’ Christmas gifts

Collaborative feature

Think it’s too late to order a special Christmas gift online? Even though I still have gift shopping to do this week, I’m pretty sure that anything I order now won’t arrive before the big day. So I’ve been investigating some gift ideas that you can buy or create that don’t need to be delivered, so you’ll definitely have them ready to gift to your friend, grandma or daughter on the big day.DIY christmas festive gift wrapping-4Firstly, how about treating them to a spa experience? One of my favourite ways to relax (although it doesn’t happen often!) is to visit a spa and chill out with a luxurious treatment. I’ve been researching what to buy for my friends this Christmas and I think that booking an Urban Retreat experience would be ideal. My gift of choice is the Hammam Spa Treatment, which is great for cleansing pores and even has a beneficial effect on sinuses and bronchial tubes so it’s a fab way to recharge after a bout of the winter sniffles. The Urban Retreat at Harrods just looks so glamorous in all the photos and I can be sure that anyone I buy a treatment for will enjoy the whole sumptuous experience.

Secondly, have you thought about DIYing something? By not going into town, and therefore not getting stuck in traffic, not spending hours looking for a parking space and not queuing up in never-ending check-out lines, you could put that extra space time to good use by making something crafty for your relatives. I love the idea of putting your talents to good use to create a gift that means a little more because you’ve made it with your own hands. Can you cross-stitch? Are you a talented knitter? Can you sew? Does your family love your baking? Whatever the talent, you can quickly rustle something up that your giftees will love. Maybe cook up a home-made selection box full of festive nibbles, stitch a motivational message, knit a pair of cosy gloves or sew them their very own personalised Christmas stocking…little red ted sewing project hillarys craft competition 2015 winner

Finally, how about giving them a ‘promise’? If you have totally run out of time to get anything organised before Christmas, you can always give your favourite people a homemade gift voucher. You can offer to take them on a special day out in the new year, vow to cook a favourite meal for them or promise to teach them everything you know about photography, crochet, or cake decorating. If you can’t think up a skill to share, I bet you could at least promise to spend some quality time with them in 2016, do some helpful chores or walk grandma’s dog. Have a think about what you could offer and make up a lovely handmade gift voucher for them to open on Christmas day.diy christmas voucher instant gift present ideas
