The beginning of the year is the perfect time to revamp your kitchen, as many DIY stores will still have New Year reductions, and this is normally the time that people become most motivated.

A good kitchen can really make a difference to your home. If you are thinking of selling, a modern and nicely decorated kitchen can add value to your home. Plus it’s a room that you are going to spend a lot of time in, so you can really enjoy the hard work that you have put in afterwards. Below are a few different money-saving shortcuts and ways to cut your budget, so you can get the kitchen that you’ve dreamed of without breaking the bank.

Start by considering exactly what you want to get from your kitchen. If you have a theme in your mind, consider what you would need to do in order to achieve this style. Don’t be tempted to think that it is necessary to replace everything in your kitchen, even if it doesn’t quite fit in with the design. If your kitchen is in good structural condition, consider revamping your old cupboards. It’s amazing how much a simple coat of paint and new handles can change the entire appearance of tired looking cupboards, into fresh, modern ones. The same can be said for your appliances – the saying ‘if it’s not broken, don’t fix it’ can go far. Simply revamp them, and you will be surprised at how much money you can save, and how different they can look.

If your kitchen tiles are looking a bit tired and worn, why not try your hand a tiling? Hiring a professional tiler can be rather costly, and depending on the tiles you use, and the area you are tiling it can sometimes be unnecessary. Refurbishing your kitchen backsplash is a simple DIY project that you can easily do yourself, saving you time and money, and it can make a huge difference to your kitchen. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are cheaper alternatives that are available in a huge array of colours and styles, you can get a really expensive look on a budget. They are incredibly durable, and once sealed are perfect for use in the kitchen.

You will be surprised at how much money you can save by following these budget busting tips. You are not sacrificing anything, yet by doing simple parts yourself, and revamping a lot of your existing items that are not damaged or broken, you can really create your dream kitchen at a fraction of the price.
