Cruelty-free summer skin – light & refreshing skincare with Vinosource

Hi guys, welcome to Thursday – one of the greatest days of the week in my opinion. Today I’m talking about a recent shake-up to my skincare routine and sharing details of the new products I’ve been using. You may remember that I blogged about my ‘switch-over’ to cruelty-free products back in the spring and I’ve been gradually replacing my old classic products (that were, sadly, tested on animals) with new, non-tested replacements ever since. Well today it’s my skincare cupboard that’s getting a makeover and here’s what I’ve been using…caudalie face beauty skincare natural-10Vinosource. It’s a new collection from French brand Caudalie and it’s such a simple range of products that really deliver what they set out to achieve. Do you ever feel like some moisturisers are just too heavy for your skin? Well there’s no chance of that with this skincare range. The creams feel as light as air when you put them onto your skin, and seem to disappear just as quickly. They are fast-absorbing, non-greasy and make your face feel fresh rather than weighed down by the cream.caudalie face beauty skincare natural-5 caudalie face beauty skincare natural-9The brand’s creator Mathilde Thomas recently said about the collection; “I wanted to recreate the feeling of pure joy when you bite into a grape packed with water and sweetness.” I agree that she has achieved just that with the Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. In fact, spreading the soufflé onto the skin reminds me of wiping a cucumber slice over your face; it’s refreshing, feels very moist and melts away really quickly.caudalie face beauty skincare natural-7 caudalie face beauty skincare natural-4

The formula includes lots of lovely natural ingredients such as organic grape water, chamomile, soybean and shea butter. It’s paraben free, contains no animal ingredients and is hypoallergenic. I often suffer from breakouts when I change over to new skincare products (even the natural products at Lush sometimes irritate my skin) but the Vinosource sorbet didn’t have any negative impact on my skin whatsoever. I think that may be because it’s just SO light.caudalie face beauty skincare natural-3caudalie face beauty skincare natural-6I also tried the Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum, which is applied before the moisturiser when your skin feels particularly dry. This serum is really sheer and also absorbs really quickly – in a matter of seconds it was gone – so there’s no waiting around for it to soak in before you can apply your moisturiser. The fact that they absorb so quickly is certainly a plus with these products. I like to get on with applying make up as soon as I’ve moisturised in the morning but, with thicker creams, you feel like you have to wait a while for fear of your foundation just sliding straight off the greasy base. That’s not a problem with this collection, and if I use it at night I don’t feel like I’m going to bed with a face covered in heavy gunk that’ll stick to my pillow. Because it’s ‘gone’ as soon as it’s applied.caudalie face beauty skincare natural-12The S.O.S Serum has a stronger (very pleasant and fresh) ‘grape’ scent than the Moisturizing Sorbet, which smells more like cucumbers to me. Either way, both products feel really light and refreshing, which is great for summer. The grape water in each of these products contains grape anti-oxidant polyphenols and polysaccharides, as well as minerals that contribute to the maintenance and correct functioning of the skin barrier. The formula is famed for being soothing on sensitive skin and actually reduces redness too. That’s probably why I got on with it so well, and didn’t suffer from any irritation.caudalie face beauty skincare natural caudalie face beauty skincare natural-8Of course whenever I consider switching to a new brand I head straight for their animal testing policy. Here’s what Caudalie say on their help page: Since its creation, Caudalie has always been opposed to animal testing and does not test on animals in compliance with EU regulations. We use alternative methods to test our compounds and our finished products. Moreover, we do not use animal ingredients. We are against animal testing and favour suppliers who use alternative methods for our raw materials. Glad to hear it.caudalie face beauty skincare natural-11caudalie face beauty skincare natural-10So far, I’m pleased with the two products I’ve tried out and hope to expand my collection soon. I’ve been looking at their sun protection range for summer – it would be great to apply SPF without feeling all hot and sticky afterwards. If the formula is just as light as the Vinosource collection I think I’ll be switching over to their suncare range too!caudalie face beauty skincare natural-2Let me know if you’ve tried any Caudalie products and share your recommendations in the comments below.
