If you want to get into the Halloween spirit (excuse the pun) by styling your home with spooky decor, I’ve come up with a quick and easy tutorial to turn an old t-shirt into a Halloween cushion. You could make a few and use them to dress up your sofa or pop a scary pillow onto the bed to bring a touch of spookiness into every room.I used a t-shirt with a sparkly skull and crossbones design from my local charity shop so I only spent £1.99 on this project, and used one of my more ‘summery’ cushions to fill it. You could use last year’s Halloween outfit or an costume that your little ones have grown out of. Or just keep an eye out for scary designs in the shops at this time of year. I’ve shared the full step-by-step guide on the Oxfam Fashion blog so have a look and see just how easy it is to make this scary cushion. It’s a good idea to check the charity shops for scary t-shirts and costumes this weekend, as they’ll all be in the window or in a prominent position for customers to find.
And once Halloween is over, you can pick up scary outfits at massively discounted prices, ready to make more cushions for next year! By the way, you can find my funny pumpkin DIY video here, and my pillar candles are from Bolsius – I’ve used these chunky black candles all around my home to spookify my decor. Let me know if you have a go at making some Halloween cushions and I’d love to see your photos so please tag me @Cassiefairy in your instagram pics.
