A hen party is a once in a lifetime celebration – and you need to make sure that the hen do kitty stretches the entire weekend (those cocktails aren’t going to buy themselves, are they?). I spoke to stag and hen party planning experts, Last Night of Freedom, to get an insight into their top tips for saving money on your hen weekend. Here’s what they said:

CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION WISELY

Having a limited budget does not mean you have to stick to rounding up the girls for a few drinks in your local ‘Spoons. We’ve extensively researched the 30,000+ stag and hen groups we’ve sent on their celebratory weekends, and know everything there is to know about the very cheapest locations (and the extremely high budget ones!) If money’s tight, we’d probably recommend steering clear of the likes of Las Vegas, Dublin and Reykjavik, but we can 100% vouch for your money stretching further in Benidorm, Hamburg, Prague, Budapest and Poznan. If you book up early, you can get yourselves cheap flights (more on that later…) and once you’re there, food and drink is going to cost you next to nothing. To find out a little more, check out our article with in-depth information about each of the very cheapest hen party locations across the world.

DIY

Instead of paying through the nose to hire a venue which may not be fully decorated to your tastes, why not do it yourself? Whether it be in the restaurant you’ve booked or in your own front room, it’s the little personalised touches that make all the difference. You could go for the classic hen accessories including L-plates, sashes, willy straws and tiaras, or keep things a little more classy, by decorating the place with vintage themed items or team bride wall decorations. You could even unite all of your ‘I do crew’ with personalised t-shirts with funny nicknames printed on them, starting at just £5.99.

BOOK IN ADVANCE

Planning well in advance means you’ll get your pick of the very best destinations, activities, hotels, flight times etc., and often means you’ll get them cheaper, which equals more money for the hen weekend drinks fund. Bonus! Getting yourselves organised as early as you can also means that you’ll give the group more chance to book holiday from work, get passports/insurance sorted, as well as saving up cash for the trip.

SET A BUDGET

Speaking of cold, hard cash, we 100% recommend setting a budget for your trip – and sticking to it! This will avoid any last minute drops outs, who may not be able to afford price increases. It’s easy to get swept up in the moment and splash out once you’re away on the hen do, but nobody wants to come back to a depleted bank balance they weren’t expecting. At Last Night of Freedom, we have an online payment system, which means any group member can sign in at any time, to manage their deposit and payments.

TRAVEL WITH AN ABTA PROTECTED COMPANY

Should anything go wrong on your trip, you need to make sure that you (and your money) are fully protected. We would always recommend booking through an ABTA protected company, so that in the unlikely event of the company going out of business or your holiday not being able to take place – ABTA have got your backs.
