If you need a cabinet in your bathroom for all your beauty bits ‘n’ bobs here’s an easy DIY cupboard you can make in a day using pallet wood. It’s a great way to recycle an old pallet and mirror, and you can make it any size to suit the space you have in your bathroom…

I love using pallets to build things for my home and garden. I’ve already made a pallet planter and privacy screen, a pallet chair and my husband made a coffee table using offcuts of pallet wood and an old drawer. We’re all for recycling pallets in any way that we can. So when a nearby building site put up a sign saying “free pallets ” we were there! I’ve now got a stack of pallets in the garden just waiting to be turned into something amazing.

One of the projects I wanted to make was a bathroom cabinet. When I tried shopping for one, I had trouble finding one that was the right size. All of the off-the-peg cupboards seemed to be too deep. I didn’t want it to overhang the sink too much so I held off buying one for ages. In the end, I found a narrower one in a charity shop that I upcycled with a vinyl pattern.

Since then, I realised that I could make my own bathroom cabinet, to my own measurements, using pallet wood. I picket up an old mirror from the charity shop at the household waste recycling centre and I got started. I’ve shared the full step-by-step tutorial on the Handy Mano blog so have a look to find out how to make this cabinet for yourself.

What do you think of the finished cupboard? Would you have a go at making your own from pallet wood? Let me know if you’ve already DIYed your own fitted cabinet or custom-made furniture, and I’d love to hear your ideas for other ways that I can recycle pallets in the comments below.
