With every type of information, product and service available on the internet, it’s never been easier to take control of your life and future. Online services can make your life admin easier and even help you completely change career so here are five important things you can do online to boost your future life and business…

1 TAKE A COURSE

Time is limited. Almost every minute is taken up by activities you have to do like work, eating and sleeping. So, what usually falls by the wayside? Self-improvement. As a lifelong learner, I’m always very keen to develop my transferable skills to boost my CV. Plus, it’s important to gain new qualifications or develop your industry knowledge if you want to land a new job or change career.

You may not have the time to sign up to a course, travel to the college and attend all the classes. But you CAN opt to take an online course instead. This allows you to study at your own time and in the comport of your own home. This way, you’ll gain the skills you need without ever setting foot in a physical classroom, saving you plenty of time and energy while still getting the chance to expand your knowledge.

2 SHOP ONLINE

It’s great to be in charge of your own home and life but it’s less fun when running errands is your responsibility. They eat into your time when you could be working on a side hustle or studying. One major thing you have to do to ensure that your house stays in order is shopping for food and household items. You can opt to drive to the supermarket to do your weekly shop, but I’ve found that it takes up a lot of my time and energy. I try to go outside of ‘peak times’ but recently I’ve noticed that it’s always busy in the supermarket, argh!

Opt out of the stress AND save time by shopping online. There are many online retailers and supermarkets where you can place orders for items you need and have them delivered right to your doorstep. I’ve only started doing the supermarket shop online this year and it has given me back so much time and now, when I go to the shops, it’s much more fun because I’m not just doing a chore.

3 SET UP AN ONLINE BUSINESS

The internet carries a lot of potential for people aspiring to set up online businesses. It’s easier than ever to buy a domain and set up a website (I used WordPress for years and it was sooo easy to get started) so you can quickly launch a new business venture – and make profits – in your spare time. In fact, many people have started their own businesses online and are now doing fantastically well, so much so that they quit their ‘day jobs’ to work on their side hustle full-time. Even marketing is easier than ever thanks to social media, where you can reach your target audience and make sales.

4 NETWORKING

If you’re setting up a business or searching for a new job, the network of people that you establish online can help shape your future. New industry-specific contacts can be found through business forums, online conferences and other kinds of web meetings. There are so many webinars where you can link up with like-minded people. Check out Facebook groups, connect with people on platforms like LinkedIn, and establish relationships that can change your life for the better.

5 TAX AND NATIONAL INSURANCE

Again, if you’re self-employed you can do all your life admin online. Submit tax returns and check your pension forecast online. All you need is your national insurance number and you can get started. Similarly, in the US, you can deal with all your tax and social security information online; even replacing your social security card online is now possible. Rather than filling in forms by hand and sending off your information in the post you can save time (and get an instant tax calculation – gulp!) by doing all your life admin online.

I hope that these tips have given you some ideas for developing your career and will help you claw back some of your free time too. Let me know what life admin things you do online as I’d love to streamline my life further. Leave me a comment with your tips and advice 🙂
