Sea, sunshine and my super-comfortable sandals for summer…

If you're looking for summer sandals that'll be comfortable all season long, today's review is for you. I've taken my new sandals for a 'test drive' along the coast, from path to beach, and here's what I think of them...

Finally, some sunshine! Was your Easter weekend as glorious as ours was here on the coast? It was the first time in a long time that I’ve been able to get out my sandals and enjoy a stroll along the seafront so I thought I’d share some snaps of the beach and my new shoes…

As someone who likes to keep her wardrobe fairly minimal, I tend to have just one pair of shoes for each ‘task’; one pair of trainers, one pair of flat loafers, one pair of dancing shoes, one pair of ankle boots etc. So when the strap on my trusty pair of sandals finally gave way at the end of last summer, I was excited because it meant I had an excuse to shop for a replacement pair. They were only a low-cost pair anyway, so I didn’t really expect them to last another year, and I’d completely mistreated them by wearing them to dusty summer festivals!

I started my research and I found my dream sandals on the Hotter website. I’ve been a fan of Hotter ever since I discovered just how comfortable their shoes are, while also looking really timeless – just the kind of footwear I like to invest in. So I was delighted when I found the ideal pair for me on the website. BUT, they were completely sold out!

That’s the thing with Hotter shoes, there’s no chance of waiting for them to go into the sale because the coolest colours and stunning designs are always snapped up by footwear fans like me. As it was already nearing the end of last summer, I wasn’t surprised to find out that the sandals were already out of stock. I logged off and hadn’t thought about replacing my sandals since.

Now that the sun has got it’s hat on for the first time in 2019, my thoughts turned back to my summer footwear. I’m part of the Hotter blogger family so I was delighted to see in the newsletter that “my” Sol sandals were back in stock – and in more colourways than ever before. I may have done a little ‘whoop’!

Hotter kindly offered me the chance to review a pair of the sandals so I spent a good hour or so deliberating over the colours. The trouble was that I loved them all! Did I want to make a statement with bright red? Should I follow my own shopping adviceand stick with neutral tones to suit every outfit? Or did I want a metallic finish that would go from day-to-night? Argh, let’s just buy them all!

After a lot of deliberation (I was only going to add one pair to my minimalist wardrobe, after all…) I opted for the royal blue multi colourway. As someone who wears a lot of denim I knew that the navy and blue tones would go with any shorts, skirts, jeans that I planned to wear during the warmer weather. And the white band would tie in with many of the tees and tops I already have in my wardrobe. These sandals would complete most of my summer outfits so I ordered them with confidence.

I hadn’t even considered whether the design would be comfortable to wear. I guess I just find Hotter shoes so reliable in terms of fit and comfort that I don’t worry about how they will feel on my feet. As expected, they hugged my feet from the very first moment I slipped them on. I actually didn’t want to take them off.

These sandals are a classic gladiator style with an adjustable ankle strap that makes them feel very secure on your feet – no chance of them flopping off while you’re strolling along. An unexpected bonus was that the horizontal bands over your feet can also be adjusted. They have Velcro strips that allow you to tighten or loosen them as needed to create a custom fit. No wonder I found them to be so comfortable.

I usually ‘wear in’ my new shoes around the house before heading out on a long walk, but the sandals fit me so well that I was confident they’d be okay to wear out straight out of the box. I walked about a mile along the seafront over the Easter weekend and they were as comfortable as I imagined.

What do you think of my new shoes? Do you like the gladiator design? What colourway would you choose? If you fancy getting a pair for yourself, they’re currently £10 off in the mid-season sale and I bet they won’t be around for long! Can you recommend any other Hotter styles that are super comfortable right out of the box? Let me know in the comments below 🙂
