VISIT TIM PEAKE’S SOYUZ SPACECRAFT

I’m a bit of a space nerd. You can mostly find me wearing my NASA jumper and reading Tim Peake’s book ‘Ask an Astronaut’. So you can imagine how delighted I was to hear that the Soyuz spacecraft that safely transported Tim Peake to the International Space Station in 2016 is going to be on permanent display in the Science Museum in London. I am SO going to see it!

The spacecraft has already toured a few museums around the country and featured an exhilarating 360° 3D state-of-the-art virtual reality experience  that enabled visitors to experience what it feels like to sit inside the Soyuz’s descent module as it makes its dangerous high-speed journey back to earth. How cool does that sound? The information about the exhibition was only announced 5 days ago so I can’t wait to hear more about it soon!

FILM LOCATIONS TOUR OF GREENWICH

If you’re visiting London, why not head to this World Heritage Site and take a two-hour tour of over 30 famous film locations around Greenwich?
A walking tour is a great way to explore the area along the historic River Thames, taking in Old Royal Naval College, The Queen’s House, Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory on the way.

I’m a big fan of Four Weddings and a Funeral so I’d be excited to see the places that featured in the film – but if you’re not into rom-coms there are plenty of other film genres on the Greenwich Film Locations Tour, including Les Miserables, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, Muppets Most Wanted and many more besides. Combining sightseeing, fresh air and exercise makes for a fun yet active day out.

VISIT THE MOON

And while you’re already in Greenwich, make sure you head to the new Moon Exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the moon landing in 1969, this new exhibition opens on 19th July 2019 and I certainly want to be there to see the collection of over 180 objects that chart the cultural and scientific story of our relationship with the moon.

The exhibition runs until January 2020 and features artworks from artists including J.M.W. Turner, John Constable, Katie Paterson and Larissa Sansour, alongside lunar samples collected by NASA’s Apollo missions and other objects that have been to the Moon and back. I’m seriously geeking out about this exhibition right now!
