You may have spotted my blog post last week where I shared a tutorial for making those cool, minimalist, scandi-style star wreathes that you see all over Pinterest (I made 3 different designs – go check out my Nordic star wreath post). Today, it’s all about LED candles, and how you can decorate them with mini foliage wreathes to create a table centrepiece or decorations for a shelf or mantelpiece – here’s how…

Let’s start with the mini wreathes to decorate LED candles. Here’s what you will need:

STEP 1 – Create a wreath circle that fits around your LED candle using thick, bendable wire.

STEP 2 – Twist the ends of the wire together to form the circle.

STEP 3 – Cut pieces of foliage to decorate the wire ring. This could be herbs, eucalyptus or Christmas tree offcuts – or any other suitable foliage from your garden.

STEP 4 – Attach the thin wire to the circle and then begin wrapping the wire around the foliage to secure to the ring.

TIP – If you keep the wire on the spool (rather than cutting a length) it’s easier to wrap it through the ring and around the foliage.

STEP 5 – Add the wreath to the base of the LED candle.

Repeat the process for the other 2 candles, using different foliage, or stick to the same leaves for a cohesive feel.

Line up the candles along a windowsill, shelf or mantelpiece to bring a festive glow to the room or hallway.

TO CREATE AN ILLUMINATED TABLE CENTREPIECE

The method is the same as for the small candle wreaths, but this time you will need to create a wreath circle that fits around your group of candles using thick, bendable wire.

With a larger wreath you could add extra decorations, such as baubles, flowers or dried oranges and cinnamon. I’ve kept my wreath simple with eucalyptus and rosemary.

It’s good to use flickering LED candles as they are made from wax and look realistic, yet they won’t drip onto the table or be a fire hazard.

The candles create a cosy centrepiece for festive dining and they are bright enough to illuminate the table.

I’ve shared quick DIY video on my YouTube channel to show you how to make these wreathes step-by-step – hope it helps!

Let me know if you have a go at creating any of these DIY decorations yourself in the comments below and I’d love to hear what foliage or decorations you’ve added to your own festive design 🙂
