Father’s Day treats you can organise without having to leave your home

My favourite kind of gifts are those that have meaning behind them. A bit of love and thought put into them. And at the moment it’s particularly important to think through the gifts you’re planning to buy as you don’t want to jeopardise your health by going for a browse to find just ‘anything’ on the high street. So I’ve come up with some ideas for Father’s Day that you can organise from the comfort of your own home…

AT-HOME TREATS

If you live with your dad, it’s easy to give him a treat while staying at home. You could spoil him by setting up a coffee station in the kitchen. Get out the cafetiere or the espresso maker and order some cream from the milkman. Bake your own homemade bourbon biscuits to accompany his cuppa and position flavoured syrups beside his favourite coffee mug. Add a packet of ground coffee to your supermarket order, or head over to the Sourced by Oxfam website to buy some Fairtrade coffee. Now all he needs is a newspaper or a good book, and permission to relax with a coffee on Sanday morning.

SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES

This is a great last-minute idea as it doesn’t depend on the product being delivered on time, you can write the details of the subscription in the Father’s Day card, and it gives your dad something to look forward to throughout the year. There are so many subscriptions available – I’m not talking about just magazine and men’s grooming products, although those are lovely too.

Why not try something different this year with a wine club subscription? The Wine List is a tasting club who deliver 2 bottles with notes every month as a course to help you learn more about wine. I ordered a box myself this week so if you want to try it you can get 30% off your first box with my personal code CASSIE30 – so that means the wine you receive is actually worth more than the cost of the subscription – enjoy!

PERSONALISED GOODIES

One thing you can get that’ll be delivered quickly yet has the personal touch is an embossed notebook and pen set. You can get a Moleskine notebook with your dad’s initials embossed into the front cover from Pen Heaven, who will also gift wrap it with a note, ready for direct delivery to your dad. Their premium tracked delivery takes 1-2 working days for just £3 and all the embossing is done in-house so it won’t delay your order.

FUTURE FUN

It’s important to have something to look forward to that you and your dad can do together in the future so why not opt for an experience voucher? I much prefer giving experiences rather than things so I always find myself heading over to the Red Letter Days website whenever I’ve got someone special to buy for. The good news is that all their gift box vouchers are valid for 24 months so that allows plenty of time for dad to use it in the future. Pick an experience that the two of you can both enjoy and plan some quality time together.
