Did you know it's International Coffee Day today?? There's nothing better than wrapping your hands around a steaming cup of something hot, is there? Here are 4 tasty hot drink recipes to keep you cosy and warm in throughout autumn and into winter...

Collaborative feature

Did you know it’s International Coffee Day today?? The celebration was set up by the International Coffee Organization and it launched on 1st of October 2015. So today marks the fifth year that we can all give a big cheer for coffee on the first of the month!

Personally, I like all kinds of hot drinks at this time of year and can happily swap from coffee to tea to chocolate to herbal all within one day. It’s the feeling of wrapping my hands around a steaming up of something hot that makes me feel all cosy and autumnal.

So I thought I would share some of my favourite hot drinks to kick off the cosy season in style AND celebrate International Coffee Day!

MAGIC MOCHA

Coffee AND chocolate? What’s not to love?! If you’re not normally a lover of coffee, give mocha a try – you’ll probably find it much more palatable than coffee on its own. But what IS a mocha? Essentially it’s an espresso-based drink and it’s one of the best-selling hot drinks in cafes worldwide. Other variants include espressino and marocchino but I don’t think you can go wrong with a classic mocha.

FLOWER POWER

This is something I’ve only recently discovered – blooming tea flowers. My mum bought me glass teapot and a pack of blooming flowers for me to try this summer. It’s amazing to watch the little flower buds open up into a full flower, and it flavours the water as it blooms. If you’re a fan of the floral flavours in herbal tea, like jasmine, you might want to give this option a try.

FESTIVE FLAVOURS

According to new research, Brits spent £2.15bn on coffee machines and products this year to replicate their regular coffee experience during lockdown. I’ve previously shared my recipe dupes for coffee chain Christmas drinks on my blog and the honeycomb latte is still my favourite. It’s definitely a treat drink for me, as it’s more like a pudding with all the whipped cream and chocolate honeycomb! It definitely makes me feel very autumnal and cosy.

MARVELLOUS MINT

Another of my favourite drinks is mint tea. I have it every day, and my preference is to add a splash of milk. Honestly, try it – it makes the tea taste like a mint humbug! Alternatively, you could try my spiced Moroccan mint tea infusion recipe instead, which is lovely and fresh.
