Today I woke up and felt like autumn was in full swing. There was a nip in the air, the leaves in the garden are turning brown and we put the heating on for the first time. Many of us love to decorate our homes for autumn, and Halloween is a great excuse for a pre-Christmas celebration. For this seasonal blog post I’ve pulled together some of my favourite autumn and Halloween items from Etsy in order to get spooky while supporting independent makers…

MOON MAGIC

I love this original lino print by Etsy seller Unruly Print. It’s not only got a witchy Halloween vibe, but it’s also fabulous for followers of full-moon cycles and for fans of space exploration. It’s one of the many custom-made, hand-printed artworks that this artist creates and can be personalised with any colour – or any text you like, for that matter. With all his A4 prints priced at only £19 with free p&p it’s a bargain way to get a customised festive gift too!

PUMPKIN PATCH

After browsing the Etsy Halloween shop, I discovered AllHerGlory. This independent shop sells personalised wedding and party decorations but the thing that really caught my eye was these pumpkin stickers. Aren’t they a great idea?! SO much easier than struggling to carve a pumpkin, and very cool too!

CRAFTY CATS

I follow the Crafty Cats Club Shop on Etsy because all their products are handmade and many are cat-related! I bought this black cats poster from them at a local makers market, but I’ve just spotted it in their Etsy shop and would like to recommend that you check out the rest of their collection for gold foil pet portraits and star sign prints, along with cool handmade jewellery and a cat pin (that I also own!).

SUGAR SKULLS

I first discovered SamSelfMade’s shop via @MakersMarketFromHome (the next event is their Christmas Bonanza, taking place on 15th November 2020) and her shop has been a favourite of mine ever since. Many of her handmade jewellery items feature traditional sugar skulls – some subtle, some vibrant, and some pink! Her pieces are a great way to accessorise your outfit for Halloween without going OTT – plus, you can wear them all year round too.

SEASONAL STICKERS

I’ve previously purchased sticker-making kits for my nieces from Etsy shop Hey There Stickers and the great thing about this seller is that she makes seasonal products to keep kids entertained. There’s currently a Halloween printable for only £1.80 in her Etsy shop, which can be coloured-in as a fun activity during half term, or as part of a spooky evening in. And the seasonal designs can even be turned into stickers if you’ve got one of her amazing sticker kits.

FULL MOON

Etsy seller Hannah Farthing is a local artist who makes beautiful letterpress designs. I’ve previously bought her lino print of a mountainscape with crescent moon and now she is selling an atmospheric full-moon design as a vinyl sticker. It’s a bargain price at £2.50 and can be stuck up as part of your Halloween decor.

COSY CATS

These lovely witch’s cat hand warmers are sewn by Handmade by Skia. I’ve followed this Etsy seller ever since bulk-buying an order of hand warmers from her for our local homeless shelter, and she was able to make them super-fast, in time for Christmas. The hand warmers can be heated in the microwave and would be great to stuff into your pockets when you go on chilly autumn walks or trick-or-treating one day in the future.

STARRY SKIES

Another Etsy seller that I’ve bought from this year (via MakersMarketFromHome) is Comet And Moon, a jewellery-maker and printmaker. I added her constellation necklace to my collection and bought one for my friend’s birthday too. There are MANY star, moon and galaxy items I could show you from this beautiful jewellery collection but I’ve settled on these hematite star earrings, which would look gorgeous with a Halloween outfit, or at any time of year.

Let me know if you’ve discovered any locely seasonal products frrom independent makers, I’d love to follow more sellers on Etsy so pop the shops you recommend in the comments below 🙂
