Excited to share my Christmas magazine articles and thrifty blog posts

It's been a while since I shared any of my article writing updates with you so I thought I'd pop on a few photos so you can see what I've been up to, including Reclaim magazine (the Christmas issue!!) a project for Recycle Week and All Things Christmas!

It’s been a while since I shared any of my article writing updates with you so I thought I’d pop on a few photos so you can see what I’ve been up to, including Reclaim magazine (the Christmas issue!!) a project for Recycle Week and All Things Christmas..!

Firstly, because I’m SO excited about it, the Christmas issue of Reclaim magazine is out now! I just got my subscriber copy and it’s so twinkly and festive – even the title font on the cover is a metallic teal colour! I don’t know about you, but I love flicking through Christmas magazines on the weekends in the run-up to the big day. It makes me feel all festive and inspires me to start putting up festive decorations in my own home.

COSY CHRISTMAS INSPIRATION

This month’s issue is especially exciting because I was lucky enough to write about a local barn renovation @BeyondTheBarnStay, which is close to where I grew up in Suffolk. The photos of Alex and Matt’s barn are beautiful, with classy decorations and warm white fairy lights in every room. I’ve never seen more cosy home and it’s certainly where I would love to spend my Christmas.

I’m going to steal some festive decor ideas for my own home – Alex has inspired me to make use of the hops and flowers in my garden to make garlands and wreaths with dried foliage. Writing about this cosy holiday rental Beyond The Barn took me right back to exploring the local area as a child (my friend lived in the same village) and I can’t wait to visit again one day. I definitely recommend you check out the article in Issue 54 of Reclaim magazine.

DESIGN ICON – WADE

I also wrote about one of my favourite Christmas decorations for my Design Icon column this month; my holly leaf candle holders by Wade. I picked them up from Vintage Mischief last Christmas and they even came with the original twisted red candles. I also wrote about my classic Wade barrel mugs, which are perfect for mulled wine at this time of year. Check out my Wade Design Icon article in Issue 54 to find out how to spot the genuine article if you want to include some Wade in your own festive decor.

ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS

I recently wrote an article for the AllThingsChristmas website, which was published in time for the 99-sleeps-to-Christmas countdown. It’s about how to make extra money now to save for Christmas, so it’s just as relevant today as it was in September and it can help you to build up a pot of cash in time for the big day.

RECYCLE WEEK

You probably know how much I love recycling so I was delighted to share a more contemporary DIY upcycling project on the GiffGaff Recycle Week hub. I used a refurbished phone and gave it a makeover with three different sticky homemade decals. The projects are easy to make, no matter what equipment you have, so head over to my blog post and have a read of my step-by-step guide to personalise your phone.

MINIMALIST MID-CENTURY INTERIORS

You can also still get last month’s issue of Reclaim magazine via the back issue archive so you haven’t missed out on my recent articles from Issue 53. With the excitement of the Christmas issue launching I didn’t get a chance to tell you about the interiors piece I wrote about @Life_of_Isatu‘s minimalist, mid-century home. That house is my actual DREAM. The simple colour palette allows her retro Ercol and G-Plan furniture to take centre stage. The garden is like an extension of the house thanks to the dining and lounging spaces she has built outdoors. Have a look at Issue 53 to see inside Isatu’s beautiful home.

DESIGN ICON – VONO BEDS

For issue 53’s Design Icon column I researched a peice of furniture that’s dear to my heart – my Vono Bed. It was inherited from my husband’s grandparents and it has moved with us into many different homes over the years. Have a read of the Design Icon article in Issue 53 of Reclaim to find out why it’s been such a versatile piece for us (and why you might want to invest in one too!)

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look over my recent articles and that you’ll find inspiration for your own home and Christmas. If you want to pick up a copy of the Christmas Issue of Reclaim, it’s in shops now or can be ordered online, along with the previous Issue 53.
