Now that it’s feeling a little more Spring-like out there, I thought it would be the perfect time to show you around Nicola from Lana Rose Interiors‘ home. I had the pleasure of writing about Nicola’s beautiful home for a previous issue of Reclaim magazine in 2020 and she has very kindly allowed me to share a little home tour with you today.

I first discovered Nicola’s home when browsing Instagram and I spotted a beautiful botanical mural she had created. Scrolling through her photos @lana_rose_interiors_stafford I was enchanted by the light and airy rooms, filled upcycled vintage pieces and whimsical touches. I knew this was a woman after my own heart – someone who loves to bag a secondhand bargain and user her creativity to turn it into a unique piece.

I soon headed over to her website Lana Rose Interiors where I found even more photos of the designs Nicola creates – including more custom murals for clients. I was super-impressed by her clever idea for affordable wall panelling using old canvases sourced from local charity shops. This is such a great way to add a feature wall with a period feel, while keeping it thoroughly modern and simple.

If you want to achieve a similar fresh and airy feeling in your home for Spring, these photos of her home will no doubt give you inspiration. Every room feels really peaceful and, having interviewed Nicola for the Reclaim article, I soon discovered why – she is a firm believer that our homes have a big impact on our happiness and mental health so she puts her heart and soul into the spaces she designs.

The light, neutral tones and natural textures of wood and wicker give each room a subtly Scandinavian style. Everything comes together for a calm and relaxing vibe that never feels flat or cold, thanks to the soft furnishings and foliage. Plus, I’m so impressed that Nicola has achieve this classy look on a budget.

Her kitchen cupboards were originally heading into a skip so she rescued them and revamped the entire kitchen for less than £500. I always think it’s a good idea to try to refresh old kitchen cabinets rather than scrapping the whole lot and starting again. It’s so much more sustainable to keep the existing units and simply upcycle the doors with a coat of paint if you want a different look.

She reused bed slats and an upside-down shelf to create the Scandi-style fireplace, with a big charity shop mirror above to reflect the light. Nicola believes that having a tight budget is a good thing because it encourages you to get creative and have a go – who knows what you can achieve when you try?!

I’m so thrilled to be able to share some snaps of this stunning home with you today and I hope it gets you thinking about some simple updates you can do to your interior this Spring. The great news is that you can still get a digital back issue of Reclaim Issue 47 if you’d like to read more about Nicola’s decor in the magazine. And don’t forget to follow her on Instagram @lana_rose_interiors_stafford for more interiors inspiration. 🙂
