Photos & review of VW Festival Alive & V-Dubbin 2012

Last weekend we attended the Alive & V-Dubbin festival hosted by VW enthusiast group Suffolk Bugrs at Jimmy’s Farm in Suffolk. We visited the festival on the final day, with the specific intention to view the main focus of the event; the show ‘n’ shine competition. We love seeing the best (and the worst if you’re talking ‘rat’ look!) VW campervans, beetles and even some more modern VW vehicles. My husband has been a lifelong campervan fan and although we don’t yet own one (they cost how much?!) we really enjoy picking out our favourites and casting our visitors choice vote.

Not only was there a good turn out of classic vehicles in the show ‘n’ shine event, but there was plenty of quality entertainment on the music stage and activities around the site, including a Segway course that my hubby had a go on, and promptly fell off!

It was also lovely that visitors could also stroll onto the main Jimmy’s Farm site and have a good look around the gardens and shop – plus (although we didn’t have time to do this, such a shame) they were offering access to the nature trail and woodland walks tour for only £1 to Alive & V-Dubbin visitors, which is a great idea and a bit of an added bonus!

All in all a thoroughly well-produced event, a very tidy site and even the food (notoriously over-priced at such events) was reasonably priced, freshly cooked and generously portioned! Nothing makes my day like having a massive portion of homemade chips for only £1.50. I’ll certainly be back for more if the event remains at Jimmy’s Farm again next year!

Tuesday Shoesday – Its all about the “shoez”…

Due to my recent return from the Volkswagen enthusiast’s fetival Dubs at the Hall, today’s Tuesday Shoesday should naturally focus on the “shoes” of all the VW vehicles I saw this weekend – that’s right girls – the wheelz, da rimz, de slammin’ alloyz – that my husband and brother went on about all weekend!!

Here’s a gorgeous photo of my very sensible husband posing (not at all in fancy dress) with the rimz of a stretch limo we enjoyed playing around with! What do you reckon to those ‘shoes’? must be 20 inches for sure?!

Pah, as if I know what any of that meanz… ahem, means.

Still, we did enjoy looking at the Show and Shine event on Sunday and most importantly I found a campervan named “Cassie” and guess what?… she won the “People’s Choice Award” and “Best in Show” at the event – of course with a name like that she’s definitely a winner!! ;o)

Fairies have to camp somewhere…

Today I visited Alive and V-Dubbin Volkswagen festival at the Mid-Suffolk Showground and after browsing the gorgeous shops, munching on some yummy fish & chips and watching a few awesome unsigned bands, I visited the Show & Shine event and could not believe my luck when I spotted a true fairymobile – a VW campervan in strawberry-ice-cream-pink covered in fairies and butterflies!

If ever there was a campervan for fairies this was it!

There were loads of wonderful vintage VW vehicles and now we are planning to attend another VW enthusiast event Dubs at the Hall at the start of next month as a stallholder to sell www.Cassiefairy.co.uk tutus and www.Beccy-Boo.co.uk jewellery – fingers crossed that the ‘dubbers’ will like what we have on offer! And I know we’ll have a good time no matter what!
