Book Review – Robert Holden’s Success Intelligence

I thought I’d share a quick review of the book that’s on my bedside table right now. I’m reading Success Intelligence by Robert Holden PhD, the bestselling author of Be Happy. I’d heard many good things about the author and have fancied reading his books for a while, so when this one

STYLE ON A SHOESTRING

A walk in the snow with a cuppa…

As the murky month of January finally starts drawing to a close we can all start looking forward to the rest of the year; it’s already one month closer to our summer holidays, a couple of months to the chocolate delights of Easter and only a couple of weeks until Valentine’s day.

UPCYCLING PROJECTS

Christmas wrapping – making presents extra-special

I know it’s easy just to tape a piece of cheesy christmas wrapping paper around a prezzie, stick a foil bow on the top and hand it over to the lucky recipient but I like to add a little more excitement to my Christmas present wrapping. I spend ages choosing

Living Spaces

Inspirations for a retro living-room: Wall coverings

I hope you remember that, for most of last year, I have been working on the decor of my living-room of my new home, and although its taken ages (due to limited funds and time-consuming bargain hunting!), its nearing completion. Here’s the link to my mood board if you’d like

Everyone needs a Quillow…

Back by popular demand, here’s Lacey in Places to share the story of how a holiday two years ago led to one of her most random purchases to date – the Quillow. Back in November 2010, I decided I needed was some winter sun. So where better to go that’s warm

Holdays are coming… holidays are coming…

Well, this Christmas is already turning out to be one of the best I’ve ever had – starting with an amazing visit from the Holidays Are Coming Coca-Cola truck to the nearby town. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the event announced in the local newspaper (I actually

Magical camping experience with bell-tent glamping!

Now, I’m not someone who is keen on camping. For a start, I don’t like being that close to bugs. And I hate getting dirty or wet. And I really dislike getting a crick in my neck when sleeping anywhere other than my own bed. Yet often when I go

The Olympic Torch Relay – in a town near you!

My new favourite flowers – back to black

I’ve recently spotted a trend emerging in the world of plants and I want a piece of it! I love the idea of black flowers, and although its pretty impossible to get a truly black flower, deep, dark, rich reds and purples that are one-tone away from black are pretty

Vintage beach huts at the seaside

This past weekend I took a trip to Southwold and luckily enough I stumbled upon a lovely vintage fair that was being held along the seafront, near the pier. It was so quaint to see beach huts opened up as vintage stalls, alongside traditional retro market stalls and even a

Vintage funfair & big boats at the Ipswich Maritime Festival

This weekend I went to the Ipswich Maritime festival and spent a scorchingly hot day wandering around the docks doing a spot of shopping, eating lovely treats and enjoying fantastic entertainment. Have you ever seen anything more retro than this? My new record case!

At a record fair that I went to recently, I was browsing the music when the record boxes caught my eye – there were a couple of wooden orange ones, that I thought would be a lovely addition to my retro living room ‘theme’. Luckily, my sister-in-law knows about my penchant for
