House tour of Simplicity For Designs’ light & airy US home

Take a tour around mompreneur Gbeke's gorgeous USA-based home and let the bright and airy interior inspire you to create restful spaces in your own home...

Just because we’re heading into autumn doesn’t mean your interior cant stay light and airy throughout the seasons. In fact, with shorter days coming, it makes sense to make your rooms as bright as possible, while incorporating some cosy touches for a snuggly feel.

In today’s home tour, Gbeke from award-winning home inspo website Simplicity for Designs shares how she has created a clean and fresh interior that’s ideal for keeping the spring and summer vibes going in your home all year round.

I was captivated when I first saw Gbeke’s beautiful home on her Instagram account @simplicityfordesigns. Not only are the images of her home absolutely stunning, but she also shares countless DIY projects and decorating tips that make her account a rich resource for interior design fans.

I was lucky enough to interview her for Reclaim magazine a couple of years ago and it was so interesting to learn more about how she gave her US home a makeover and added period details, such as panelling in the bedroom and elegant mouldings around the window frames.

Although the pieces in her home are carefully chosen for their vintage style and quality craftsmanship, the interior has a minimalist feel, thanks to the neutral colour palette and fuss-free decor. But that doesn’t mean it’s sparse – Gbeke has added plenty of texture with shiplap cladding in the playroom and stone tiles on the fireplace wall.

Plus, she adds pops of pattern with her striped cushions, rugs and throws throughout the home. Her choice of soft furnishings helps to create a cosy feel in the clean white interior and brings even more texture into the restful spaces.

Even the fresh white kitchen has a warmth to it thanks to the greige island and brass fixtures. Wooden chairs and accessories bring natural texture and Gbeke loves to create floral displays to suit the seasons.

Gbeke decided to add glazing to the wall cabinets to create a barely-there feel and the glass helps to bounce the light around the room. Likewise, the glossy splashback tiles reflect the natural daylight and the pale blue is reminiscent of a bright sky.

One thing that I would like to recreate myself is the cute bar cart. It’s got vintage vibes and a beautiful brass finish, along with mirrored bases to reflect the bottles and accessories she’s styled it with. Keeping furniture sleek and simple like this helps the rooms stay fuss-free, even when items that could be inside a cupboard are put on display like this.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of Gbeke’s restful home and that it has inspired your own decorating. Please check out her website Simplicity for Designs for even more inspiration for light, bright and calm interiors.
