Sweet treats for mum’s birthday!

We had a lovely day on mum’s 65th birthday yesterday – I went over to visit her at home and took her a few prezzies (including a signed photo from her favourite TV presenter Alistair Appleton, thanks Alistair!) and I was delighted that the birthday box that I’d ordered from Sugarpoke for her had already arrived!

I’m seriously pleased that I found this yummy gift company during my online shopping expedition earlier this week because I could get a gorgeous hamper full of mum’s favourite goodies, which included a gift card with personalised message and was delivered to her door (and I only ordered it on Thursday – pretty impressive I say!). I’ve since found out that Sugarpoke is a family company run by two mums, so it’s no wonder that they know what’s what in the world of sweet treats that both parents and kids would love!

I was particularly impressed with the cute iced mini gingerbread people and Belgian choccie hearts were delicious with a melt-in-the-mouth centre (yes, I did force mum to share with me!) and mum got a bit giggly enjoying the mini bottle of pink bubbly! It was like a little birthday picnic for her (this is the one I chose, called It’s a Celebration!) and here’s some quick snaps that I took before we scoffed the lot! And now I’m hoping that she’ll return the favour with one of the Thank You gifts haha!

In the afternoon, my sister brought round a traditional cream-tea with clotted cream and home-grown-in-her-back-garden strawberries. Later that evening we attended a friend’s birthday garden party where we enjoyed a hog roast and more strawberries & cream; basically it was just a day of scoffing! I really enjoyed mum’s birthday (and all the treats!) and I’m sure that she did too!
