There’s just one week to go until Father’s Day – did you know it was coming up on the 21st June? I always feel like this occasion sneaks up on us, so I’m often vastly underprepared. But this year is different; I’ve been doing my research and have come up with some ideas for the dad who has it all (well, he’s already got you, hasn’t he?!). Read on to find out my gift ideas to get inspiration for your own father this month.
Firstly, I’ve chosen the ultimate gift for the man who has everything; a custom-made shirt. Whether he works in an office, loves a casual shirt for the weekends or smartens himself up for special occasions, every man will enjoy receiving a shirt that you’ve had specifically made just for him. It’s the ultimate luxury item and can be designed by you (if you have better taste then your dad…) or get him involved with designing his own.
I actually had a shirt made by Tailor Store for my husband’s birthday and we sat down together to design his perfect shirt. And it wasn’t just about choosing the fabric; there were options for different types of collar, sleeve, cuffs, fit, placket, buttons – even down to the colour of thread used to sew the buttons on! And you don’t have to stick to one fabric all over – each part of the shirt can be a different pattern or colour if you like and pockets, elbow patches and internal facings can all be customised. Well, you can imagine the fun we had playing around with the CAD design feature on the website!
With around 300 fabrics to choose from in different patterns, textures and even easy-iron options (time-saving tip, go for a wrinkle-free fabric!) the combinations of colours and prints is endless; you can be sure that no one else will be walking around in the same shirt as you! The service is made to measure, so even men who usually find it difficult to get clothing that fits well (such as those with longer-than usual arms like my husband) will end up with the perfect-fitting shirt.By the way, Tailor Store also make shirts for women, with just as many options for colour, pattern, accessories and fit as the men’s range so be sure to check this out when you’re shopping on the website yourself! When my husband’s custom-made shirt arrived in the post I was even more pleased with the product that I’d imagined. The fabric was exactly the colour and texture that was shown online and the construction was top-quality. I couldn’t believe that the design we’d created together had actually come to life, just as we’d envisioned it and the fabric felt really luxurious. The paisley embroidered blue fabric that we’d chosen for the shirt looked fantastic with the floral contrasts on the cuffs and collar, and hubby was absolutely delighted with the result. So often he’ll buy a shirt but it won’t fit properly, or he’ll like a colour but it’ll have over-size pockets or a large collar so he’ll put it back on the rail. Yes, my husband is one tough shirt connoisseur and thankfully, the Tailor Store shirt has got his seal of approval. It’s now his favourite shirt and he’ll wear it at every opportunity; for weddings, days out, special meals or even just at home, so I’d say that it’s definitely worth the money to have fun designing the shirt and to own something that you know is always going to look great. The next idea I have for Father’s Day is creating a memory box. With so many of us taking photos on our digital devices these day, yet with so few photos being actually printed, I thought that it might be a nice idea to compile a selection of your favourite memories into a special gift box this Father’s Day.Pick out some fun photos of you and your family from the past few years, have them printed and pop them into a memory box such as this wooden box from USB4Photographers.com. You could also pop the same images onto a personalised USB stick in a matching wooden finish so that your family can save your photos on their own devices to show off to their friends online. I also think that this would be a lovely idea for a wedding gift; take some relaxed photos of the bride and groom on the big day and then upload them onto a personalised wooden USB stick for a special, really personal gift.
Finally, something that goes down well with all the men in my life; hair products. My favourite range for men (and thankfully hubby agrees!) is the Tigi Bed Head collection for men and I’ve already stocked up on a few of these essential hair care items for my fella. It’s a really easy-to-use collection that can be applied directly onto damp hair for the best results – there’s no faffing around or hair drying needed – so you can see why the blokes rave about this range so much, can’t you?!I also love the men’s skincare range from Avon as an extra-special treat for Father’s Day. You know that he’d never get round to buying it for himself but you can be sure that he’ll love it and, more importantly, actually use it when he receives it as a gift. I know a couple of men who swear by this manly moisturising cream with SPF and it’s great for using after shaving too so pick up a couple of products for your dad this Father’s Day.
So those are just a few of my favourite suggestions for Father’s Day 2015 and I hope this has given you some inspiration for what to treat your own father to this year. Please let me know if you have any suggestions of your own by leaving me a comment below or tweet me @Cassiefairy with your ideas.
