Well, it’s not that much of a tutorial – it’s a fairly simple process to create a cute tea-light holder without breaking the bank. I knew that I would like some rainbow-coloured tealight holders to decorate our anniversary party venue and light up the hall after dark. This project can just as easily be used for a birthday celebration, wedding or christmas party, depending on your choice of pattern or colours. So over the past couple of month I’ve been washing out my empty jam jars, soaking off the labels and collecting them for this project.
This project can be achieved using any coloured sticky tape or pretty printed washi-tape but I used wide rainbow tape from Wholeport.com. I simply wrapped the tape around the jar (and luckily it was easy to peel it off and re-position it when I got it wrong!) and lined up the rainbow stripes at the back. Then I added a tealight to each jar and it illuminated the brightly-coloured sticky tape perfectly! In fact the shorter, stumpy jars (such a nacho dip-jars!) were the best, because it was easier to light the tealights and the candle-light shone through the rainbow and turned it translucent. By the way, you can probably guess that we went for a rainbow theme for the anniversary party, and I’ll be bringing you some of the other crafty things we made to decorate our party over the coming weeks, so watch this space!
