There are just three essentials that every wardrobe needs to give you a strong foundation to build upon with your own unique style. Read on to find out what staples you need for a great minimalist wardrobe and to enter my giveaway to win an ethically produced dress by TwoForJoy..!Streamlining your wardrobe is a great idea for a few reasons. Firstly, it’ll make it easier to get ready in the morning. Having fewer clothes in your wardrobe means you’ll be able to find what you need quickly. Secondly, by having a few capsule pieces, you’ll always be able to put together a complete outfit with ease, as everything will work together. And thirdly, the clothes you do have will stay in better condition for longer; they’ll have plenty of room to hang neatly and stay crumple-free. So, my plan is to make a list of wardrobe essentials and to invest in quality pieces throughout 2018. That way, I’ll have a wardrobe containing only things that I need, that fit, that I know I’ll wear and that work well together by the end of the year. There’s no hurry, is there? TwoForJoy aim to make good quality, ethically-produced wardrobe essentials so that’s the first place I looked when I began compiling my list.
1. THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Straight away, I found the little black dress of my dreams. This shirt dress is the ultimate all-in-one. Its collar makes it smart enough to wear for meetings, the sleeves can be rolled up and hands can be stuffed into the side pockets for a casual weekend look, and the skirt is swooshy enough to make it perfect for nights out dancing. It comes with a little belt that’ll work well with jeans or trousers too. The fabric is rather amazing as it’s got a little stretch in the smooth poly-cotton, which makes it fit perfectly.
2. THE JEANS
Every wardrobe needs a staple pair of jeans. They’re great for casual days out and go with pretty-much any kind of top. You name it: slogan t-shirts, floaty floral tops, crisp cotton shirts, slouchy hoodies, silk blouses – jeans will work with them all. The style of jeans is up to you. If you prefer a slight flare, go for it! Straight cut jeans never go out of style. And I love the comfortable feeling of a stretchy pair of skinny jeans that are almost as comfortable as leggings.
3. THE BLAZER
It’s somewhere between a suit and a jacket, so the blazer can carry off a lot of different functions. It all depends what you wear it with. Team it with a white shirt and smart trousers and you’ve got an office-ready look. Pop it on over a floral dress and that’s your special occasion outfit sorted. If you wear it with a pair of jeans and t-shirt like the photo below, it’s a great smart-casual weekend outfit. I love blazers! If you stick to neutrals and classic pieces, you won’t need to update your wardrobe for years to come. TwoForJoy are stepping away from throwaway fashion so their pieces are made with quality fabrics, cut to a flattering fit. I could literally buy everything for my capsule wardrobe on the TwoForJoy website. In fact, that blazer is calling me..!TwoForJoy pay fair prices to their suppliers (who are audited to international standards) but that doesn’t mean the clothes are more expensive for their customers. The finished products are fairly priced and you can see a complete breakdown of the production costs on their website, so you can be sure that they’re not making huge mark-ups. That said, I’m pleased to pay a little more knowing that the makers are getting a good deal. Plus 15% of the sale price of each item goes to Mayamiko, which is an awesome charity that supports African communities and business start-ups. And now, on to the giveaway! You could win this gorgeous black shirt dress above by TwoForJoy (worth £60) in your choice of size, delivered direct to your door. It’ll give you a head start on creating your very own capsule wardrobe!
