If you want to be inspired to get out of your comfort zone and try out new adventures in 2024, here are some ideas to bring extra experiences and plenty of family fun into your life this year...

My new year’s resolution all started when I saw that a new animated film is being launched by the creators of Minions and Despicable Me. I’m excited to watch Migration – you can watch the trailer here – which I did before deciding on my goal for 2024.

The tagline for the film is what particularly caught my eye and it could well be a perfect mantra for this year:

When adventure calls, answer.

The premise of the film is a family of ducks who decide to migrate and see the world, going on an epic adventure together. And I think that’s a wonderful idea if you’re looking for a New Year’s resolution that’ll bring you lots of fun experiences throughout the year.

I’m not necessarily taking about migrating – let’s leave that to the birds! – but I think it’s a fabulous idea to aim to have more adventures with your family and friends this year. And perhaps you could even start by going to see the film, which has just been released on 2nd of February.

To learn more about Migration, there’s a fun quiz on Buyagift where you can find out what character you are from the film, and can get a discount code to redeem against an amazing experience to enjoy with your family – a great way to kick off your ‘When adventure calls, answer‘ resolution for the year.

I’ve said it in all my previous gift guides, but an experience or day out voucher is always a fantastic present to give OR receive, as it doesn’t add clutter to your home and it gives you something to look forward to. So you can imagine how happy I was to receive a Family Fun Experience Box at Christmas – a good start to my own adventurous year!

One of the ways that I personally enjoy embracing adventures is through browsing the experiences and activities on Buyagift and I’ve previously been on a Segway adventure, enjoyed multiple afternoon teas and had an English Heritage membership to enjoy touring interesting places for a whole year, including castles, stately homes and even windmills.

When I received a few gift vouchers one year, I even saved them up and grouped them together to go on holiday. Booking a couple of nights at variety of lovely hotels in the UK allowed my husband and I to do a little ‘tour’ of the South coast, where we discovered outstanding art, amazing food and enjoyed fun days out at the seaside.

If you want to make having an adventurous year your resolution for 2024, I think it’s important to start by advance booking an event, or arranging a day out now. This means you can start filling up your calendar with lots of things to look forward to – which is a nice feeling to have on these grey winter days.

And why not get out and start your adventure right now? You don’t need to wait for the warmer weather to enjoy epic experiences like indoor skydiving (you’ll feel just like those ducks in Migration!) and sports stadium tours.

Doing fun activities together as a family helps to bring you closer together and lets you spend quality time with each other, away from distractions like screens and scrolling. Let’s face it – you can’t be browsing social media if you’re dangling from a zip-wire or scuba diving!

Plus, it gives you those standout moments that are worth capturing on camera. Here’s a tip – be sure to take photos or little videos of each of your days out throughout the year. Then you can compile them as a video or slideshow that you can all watch on New Year’s Day next year, so you can see how much fun you had and to inspire you to make more plans for family adventures in the future.

I hope this blog post has inspired you to make having family fun and epic experiences your goal for the year, let me know your ideas for fab days out in the comments below. And remember;

When adventure calls, answer.
