Valentine’s day isn’t just about new couples or married folk; if you’ve got family and friends you want to celebrate with, go ahead and give them a treat this Valentine’s day with these alternative gift suggestions…
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Let’s start with something that the entire family can enjoy: cake. I spotted this cake-customising service in my local ASDA and it turns out that Intercake cake printing stations can be found in Morrisons and Asda supermarkets all around the country – check here for your nearest Intercake store. It’s a cute way to get all members of the family involved in your Valentine’s Day celebration – simply choose a photo of the family together and get it printed onto icing. And if you’re having a party with your friends, or a Galentine’s night out, start the evening with a cake that has a photo of your group of friends on it!
FOR TODDLERS
In the excitement of buying roses and chocolates for the adults in the family, it can be easy to overlook the little ones. Why not wrap up a little present for your toddler too? I personally love wooden toys for babies and toddlers so my go-to brand when I’m buying something my nieces and nephews is Hape. They’ve got a great push-along toy in a sweet Springtime bird design that chirps when the wheels go round and I love the Block and Roll cart – toddlers can use it when practising their walking and can play with the building blocks too.
FOR THE KIDS
Include your little ones in the Valentine’s Day festivities with a small gift that they can play with for the day (which might give you a little peace and quiet!) and is something that they’ll enjoy all year round. My Living World is a great range of educational toys that help youngsters to learn about wildlife. A gardening toy such as My Fairy Garden is a sweet way to teach kids about growing plant life, and they’ll be able to tend to the garden as it grows. Interplay are also bringing out a Fairy Picnic Basket this Spring, which would be a sweet gift for Easter as well.
FOR EVERYONE
In the past, I made a memory box as a gift for my husband but I think that this is a Valentine’s (or any time!) present that can suit any one. Simply tailor the contents to your friend, your mum, your kids or your whole family. Choose photos of you all together, add memory triggers such as passes and tickets for the events you’ve been to over the past year and throw in some sweets and treats for good measure – check out my step-by-step video on my YouTube channel to see how I made mine.
Also, I’ve just shared my tips for making your home look romantic for Valentine’s Day (without breaking the bank or going OTT!) on the LuxPad website – check out their article for 18 Valentine’s Day Decor Ideas for the perfect night in.I hope that this Valentine’s-ish blog post has given you some ideas for including all the family and your friends in your Valentine’s celebrations this month.
