If you want to get into the festive spirit but don’t want to splash the cash on a new Christmas jumper, I’ve come up with an easy DIY version that you can make at home. I’ve used a T-shirt that I picked up from the charity shop for just £2 but you could add a festive design to any sweatshirt or tee you already have at home. Here’s how…
YOU WILL NEED:
- T-shirt or sweatshirt
- Heat-transfer vinyl (I got mine in a multi-pack from Amazon)
- Cutting machine (or a printer and craft knife!)
- Iron and ironing board
I’ve posted a new DIY video of this project on my Cassiefairy YouTube channel so please check it out below to see just how easy it is to make a DIY festive t-shirt.
If you prefer to follow written instructions rather than a video, you can find step-by-step photos of this project here.
It’s really easy to print a festive design of your choice if you have a cutting machine as it does all the work for you, but if you don’t have one, don’t let that stop you! You can just as easily print out a template of the text onto paper and then layer it over the vinyl and use a craft knife to cut out the slogan. Just make sure you put a cutting mat under the vinyl so that you don’t ruin your worktop!
I used a SVG design that reads ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ but you could use image or text you like – a snowflake pattern perhaps? Or a lyric from your favourite Christmas song? Once you’ve cut out the design, it’s simply a case of transferring the vinyl on your t-shirt and then wearing it to every Christmas party you’re invited to!
