This January I’m joining the Dryathlon and will be giving up alcohol for the whole month in order to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK. I found out about the campaign over Christmas and it really stuck in my mind. Even though I’m sure it’ll be tough I really wanted to take part and fundraise in order help life-saving cancer treatments to be developed so I found myself signing up for the campaign yesterday morning.
While sat in bed in my Christmas pyjamas I logged on to the Cancer Research UK website and read up on the Dryathlon campaign before looking into the work of the charity itself and here’s what they say; “Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We are fighting cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it to save more lives. We are entirely funded by the public. With your help, we can ensure more people beat cancer.”The challenge starts today so I WON’T be having a glass of wine with my New Years meal with the family and I’ll be forgoing all those mugs of amaretto hot chocolate that I love so much during the winter months! It’ll be tough and as a regular pub go-er who can never resist a nice bottle of sauvignon blanc, I realised that just giving up my normal drinks throughout the month would actually save money so I will also be donating the value of each drink that I would’ve usually had to the cause myself.
So please support me to ditch the drinks in January and help me fundraise by sponsoring my Dryathlon attempt through my JustGiving page. If everyone reading this could donate just £1 I would be thrilled!
Thank you 🙂
