Three tricks to help you grow in confidence

Advertisement feature

For a lot of people, there’s one thing that seems to be standing between them and everything they really want both in their personal and professional lives: confidence. Many people see confidence as this strange, foreign idea that other people have but that they’ve never really managed to understand or achieve. As if confidence is something that you’re simply born with and if you don’t have it, then you’re doomed to be that way forever. Well, the truth is that’s totally ridiculous! Very few people are born with confidence and even the shyest person in the world can learn to be a little more outgoing. Here are just a few things that you can do to finally come out of your shell.

Fake it til you make it!

Here’s the big secret about every confident person you’ve ever met: they probably feel just as self-conscious as you do. One of the very best ways to feel more confident is just to project that confidence out into the world. If people see you as confident, then it affects the way they treat you which, in turn, affects the way you see yourself. Over time you’ll get so used to acting confident that it won’t even be an act anymore! Instead, it’ll just be who you are.

Take selfies

A lot of people seem to have some pretty serious attitudes towards selfies. There are lots who really hate them for seemingly no reason. The truth is that there’s a lot of evidence to show that taking selfies can actually help to build up your confidence. This is because it helps you get used to your face but also allows you to curate the way that you appear in a way that emphasizes the things you like about yourself while de-emphasizing the things you don’t. So snap away and get to know your face a little better.

Flash those pearly whites

There’s nothing in the world quite as infectious as a smile. A smile can put a whole room of people at ease all at once! Not only that but smiling can actually impact your own psychology in a subtle but significant way. Smiling can actually help you feel more positive overall. Not only that but it also allows you to make others feel more comfortable which makes the whole atmosphere much more relaxed. Of course, some people feel self-conscious about their smiles and if that’s true then check out this link to a renowned cosmetic dentist who might be able to help bring back your smile. After all, there’s nothing quite like being able to proudly flash those pearly whites.

Of course, none of this means that you suddenly need to become a social butterfly or that there’s anything wrong with wanting time alone. Instead it’s about personal growth and development. The key to confidence is being able to know what you want and go after it. If you’d rather spend your time curled up with a book than at a party, then that’s great! Have the confidence to be true to yourself!
