Winter wonderland wedding inspiration

Is there anything more magical than a winter wedding? Especially if it happens to snow on the big day too  – ahh, so dreamy! Even though I got married in the summer, I ‘d probably go for a winter wedding if I were to do it all over again now.  Just imagine all those fairy lights, the cosiness of being warm inside while the snow falls outdoors, and I’m sure you can picture how beautiful the wedding photos would be. Today I’ve put together some inspiration for the ultimate winter wonderland wedding.

TWINKLING VENUE

You know me, it’s all about the fairy lights. So choose lights with a warm white bulb to create that cosy glow and cover every surface! Drape them in the surrounding trees, wrap them around beams and hang them behind the head table in the venue. And don’t forget the photobooth! A twinkling backdrop makes for some very pretty party photos in the evening.

SNOWY TABLESCAPES

There are so many winter-themed wedding accessories you can buy or make to turn your venue into a winter wonderland with snowy tablescapes. Stick to whites and creams as your base colours and add interest with textures and festive foliage. And warm up the whole scheme with plenty of twinkling candles.

COSY ACCESSORIES

It’s a good idea to bear in mind that your winter wedding might end up being rather a chilly occasion. Prepare for all weathers with umbrellas and wellies for the wedding party, and make sure the heating at your venue is sufficient to stop shivers. Another way to keep guests warm is to provide blankets to keep them snuggly as the night draws in.

FESTIVE FOODS

Stick with a wintery theme with your catering for a truly festive wedding. How about serving a turkey dinner for your wedding meal? Pass round the pigs-in-blankets as a canape? Or serve steaming cups of soup to keep guests warm while the photographs are being taken. And a glass of mulled wine for every guest is a must!

What do you think of these ideas for a wintery wedding? Let me know if you got married during the winter and what you did to make it cosy and magical! Please share your tips and advice for a festive wedding below.
