Having a gorgeous garden is a huge blessing. During the summer months, you can often feel completely humbled by being able to sit out in the sunshine and enjoy the peace. But the beauty of having a garden doesn’t just end with your summer fun. There are lots that you can be doing to your garden to keep it looking good all year round. In fact, autumn is a great time of year to get lots of your maintenance in. So if you want to know what work you can carry out over the next few months to help you wind down for winter, here are the spruces to start with.

Show Your Lawn Some Love

First of all, you’re going to want to work on your lawn. The sun during the summer months can often tire out the grass. So, when autumn comes, there’s a range of maintenance tasks that you could carry out to help it get a glow back. Lawn care for autumn can often keep it fresher for longer. Whether you chose to scarify or aerate, you should find that putting some effort into your lawn care at this time of year keeps it looking good year round.

Gut The Greenhouse

Then, you might want to turn your attention to the greenhouse if you have one. Although most of the year has been your growing season, now is the time to tidy things up. You want to trim back any plants that are no longer showing, and give everything a good clear out too – especially if there are any dead plants. You may also want to give the greenhouse a clean itself too. Sprucing up the glass on both the inside and the outside is a perfect task to tackle in autumn.

Tidy Up The Boundaries

Then, you may want to take a look at your garden boundaries in two ways. Firstly, if you have any fencing panels that are broken, you may want to look at repairing or replacing them. It’s definitely a good idea to get this sorted to ensure that your garden is secure again for the winter months. However, you may also want to do a bit of work around the borders too. If you have any weeding or deadheading to do, autumn is a great time of year to do it to keep everything tidy for winter.

Clear Out The Water

If you have any water features, you’re also going to want to look at giving them some attention too. To ensure that you keep clear water in your garden pond, you’re going to want to work on the upkeep. In autumn, netting can be a great maintenance job to take care of. You may also want to clean up any fountains that you have too.

Put Away Patio Furniture

Finally, you’re also going to want to think about putting away your garden furniture for the winter. When you have patio furniture, and you know that you’re no longer going to use it, it’s important that you clean it up and pack it up safely for the winter so that it can stay in good condition ahead of spring.
