There are many things you can choose for the child celebrating their first twelve months on earth and I’ve put together a few ideas below for those that are feeling a bit stumped.

Keep on reading to find out more and hopefully get inspired. The best part is, the gift you choose doesn’t have to cost a fortune, it can be something you make yourself. Either way, your gift will mean a lot to the family and the little one-year-old on their special day.

A personalised photo book

A great gift idea is a personalised photo book. You could get together an array of photos from their first year and get them put together to create a beautiful keepsake. There are many companies that can help you get this book put together – you could make it into a booklet style with little messages and memories too! Look for quality book printing online to make sure it will last them to look through for years to come.

Scrapbooking is also fun so, if you’ve spent a lot of time with the little one during their first year, pull together all the things you’ve collected from your days out and print out some photos of important memories. Then you can have fun with glue, ribbons, patterned paper and more to create a pretty scrapbook of their early months.

A picture for their wall

Another idea can be a picture for their wall. You can find templates online, or go to a shop and get a special print. Think about what the child is into or something that would look good in their nursery. Consider the colour scheme and the size of the print too. If you’re good at art, you could even paint one yourself. This can be a really special touch and they will always know you took the time to create it for them. Don’t forget to get a frame to put the picture in and make sure it’s acrylic rather than glass for safety.

A handmade teddy just for them

Teddies and soft toys are another winner. You could get a personalised teddy made that has their birth information stitched onto its clothes or fur. This is a great keepsake and makes for a truly beautiful present. There are many places online you can find these, including little businesses if you want to help support local companies.

If you’re okay with using a sewing machine, why not try making a doll or teddy yourself? I made bears for my nieces and nephews, using their old baby clothes for the fabric or sometimes with a message stitched onto a patch or a stamped button in their ear.

A photoshoot for the family

Turning one isn’t just a big deal for the baby, but for the family, so what better way to celebrate that with a family photoshoot? You can buy an array of different packages for this and they will be able to head out for a fun family day and get some shots taken that they can then keep and look back on for years to come.

These are just a few gift ideas for a first birthday that they’re sure to love. While it can be tricky finding the perfect gift, remember that they will appreciate anything due to the thought you’ve put into it. There are so many possibilities and it’s such a special event to be a part of. What are some top tips you have for a first birthday party? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you.
