There are many companies out there offering unique game-based hen weekends so if your friends have a competitive streak this might be the choice for you. From inflatable knock-out challenge games to human table football, the options are endless. Why not get into giant bubbles and race, set up a hen Olympics, or get into teams and play against each other in a Segway polo game to really drive your hen’s competitive spirit. For those who are more adventurous and are not scared of going underground, a weekend of trampolining in underground caves looks like an amazing hen holiday! Or for a slightly more gothic edge, a weekend of zombie paintball fighting could be awesome.

Pampering weekends

No, not just a girlie weekend at a spa; there are some unusual options available including the chance to have a makeover and photoshoot where the hens are made over as mermaids. Or unicorns. Brides who want to treat their party to a nice meal, but with a twist, could opt for a Mad Hatter tea party, complete with costumes and characters, or why not go for a bedtime story themed evening where you can wear your best pyjamas and be entertained with stories after your meal. Why not take all the girls out for a belly dancing lesson or, for something a bit, different then go for a pole dancing class. If you don’t fancy dancing, then why not try something like circus skills as a fun afternoon activity. If your hens are fitness addicts then these types of weekend events could really fit the bill.

Fun education

If you want something a bit less physically challenging and you like learning new skills there are many class-type options out there for hen nights but don’t worry, it’s not like going back to school! Cupcake baking, chocolate making and cookie decorating are fun (and tasty!) skills to learn. Lampshade making could be a good wedding gift for the couple. For a really different experience, and if you want to learn a useful practical skill then what about a lingerie making lesson – you could even use your skills to make some beautiful pieces ready for the honeymoon. You could try wedding hat making lessons as an equally useful skill ready for the big day.

Just plain quirky

In the eighties a hen night would have inevitably involved a pub crawl, so to bring that up to modern times how about taking the group out on an organised chocolate crawl where you get to try the most luxurious chocolate and truffles from unique chocolatiers first-hand.

If you like a psychological challenge then an escape room weekend would see you and the hens working together to solve all the puzzles and clues to get yourselves out of a locked room within a certain time limit – it will certainly bring you together! For those who like ghoulish and ghostly goings on then why not book a ghost tour or take a visit to the London dungeons, or go for a psychic reading event to tell all of your fortunes.

There really is no end of unique and unusual ideas out there for hen nights and thankfully the focus is no longer on L-plates and willy-shaped chocolates. It is much more of a female-focused team-bonding event. It’s about quality time with the girls, having fun, challenging yourselves and having a great laugh. So banish the tiaras and pink fairy wings, and explore all of the amazing ways you can really celebrate your friendships and support the bride-to-be on her new journey into married life.
