Whether or not you have kids, and whether or not you have a period home, a vintage rocking horse would make a great addition to your interior. I’ve done my research and shared my own experiences, so here’s why you might want to invest in a classic retro rocker…

I was lucky enough to be given the task of researching vintage rocking horses for Reclaim magazine this month and I learnt a LOT while I was investigating the subject. Did you know that rocking horses date back to the Middle Ages??

I was putting together a Design Icon feature on rocking horses and it’s just been published – so be sure to get yourself a copy from WHSmith or head over to Select Magazines website and check out issue 48 – where you can buy the print magazine or download a digital a copy online.

Did you ever have a rocking horse (or rocking moose, or rocking elephant??) as a child? I shared the story of my own childhood rocking horse in my Design Icon column and so many lovely memories resurfaced. If you have children and they don’t yet have a rocking horse, I bet they would love one!

But the focus of the article in Reclaim wasn’t just getting a vintage toy for your youngsters to play with, it was about how original rocking horses can look fantastic in your home too.

If you’ve got a period interior collectible rocking horses can add an interesting feature – and talking point – into the room. For three different ways to introduce rocking horses into your period interior have a read of page 33 in Issue 48 of Reclaim – on newsagents’ shelves until 26th March.
