As an admirer of Philippa Jeffery’s artwork, which I first spotted on her Instagram account @philippa_jeffrey_art, I always wondered what her home would look like. Would she carry on those gorgeous colour combinations from her beautiful landscapes and abstract paintings into her interior?
Pleasingly, the answer was yes – those pastel colours infuse each room of her home. These soft hues really are dreamlike and there’s not nothing nicer than combining a peaceful backdrop with beautiful patterns. It really brings a space alive.
If you’re wondering; how can I get an arty look in my own home? Philippa’s home provides the ideal inspiration for a creative interior, full of unique, arty touches that you won’t find anywhere else.
My favourite room in Philippa’s home is the kitchen. It’s an airy, lofty space with a vaulted ceiling, which looks even more airy thanks to the fresh pink cabinetry and multiple rattan light fixtures.
I’d love to recreate this look in my own kitchen and I was wondering; what pink paint can be used to upcycle kitchen cabinets? Having interviewed Philippa, I found out that these cupboards are painted in Cuisse de Nymph by Edward Bulmer, which looks absolutely gorgeous.
I also love the bathroom. In here, Philippa has worked with the existing fittings and updated the colour to suit her style. I’d love to have a pink bathroom, what a lovely space to enjoy a soak in the tub.
I was lucky enough to write about Philippa’s home for Reclaim magazine a few years ago but you can still read Issue 79 in the back issue archive of the magazine. Be sure to check that out if you want to find out more about how she renovated her home.
Finally, the bedroom is just such a sanctuary that I had to share the space with you. I love the patterns on the bedding and cushions here. They work so well with the painted bedside cabinet and Kilim rug – it just goes to show that combining patterns can create a truly joyful interior.
