EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS
First of all, THANK YOU for wanting to sign up to receive my “Your Thrifty Life” monthly newsletter via email. If you choose to subscribe my email list, I will not pass on your contact information to any third parties and will only ever use your email address to send you my own blog post updates from this site only. Information stored includes your email address and the date of opt-in only. This information is securely managed via Mailchimp and only the administrator can access the list. Please refer to Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy for more information.
We will only collect the minimum data needed to send you the newsletter so name/address/location details are NOT required to subscribe. Only your email address is required to subscribe to the “Your Thrifty Life” newsletter. You will be asked to tick the reCAPTCHA box when you sign up. I’ve enabled the reCAPTCHA setting to ensure that your subscription is genuine and to prevent spambots from adding your email to my list without your knowledge.
To confirm your email address and sign up to the newsletter, please click the “Yes, subscribe me to this list” opt-in button when you receive the confirmation email. If you have changed your mind about subscribing, you do not need to confirm, and your email address will not be added to the subscriber list.
Once you have confirmed your email subscription you will receive one monthly newsletter from me via email to the email address you have provided. The “Your Thrifty Life” email contains a round-up of my favourite blog posts including easy DIY projects and money-saving tips.
You can change your subscription settings or unsubscribe at any time by following the links in any of the emails you receive from me. Every email you receive contains an ‘Unsubscribe’ link or you can unsubscribe immediately by clicking here. If you choose to unsubscribe, your email address will be removed from the subscriber list and you will no longer receive my monthly newsletter via email.

If you wish to continue receiving blog post updates via your WordPress reader, you can opt in to confirm your subscription when you receive the initial sign-up email. Thank you for wanting to interact with my content and join in the discussion. I love getting comments and chatting with my readers. When you decide to post a comment you can choose what personal information you wish to share at the point of entering your comment. You do not need to enter an email address, name or website address to post a comment. You do not need to sign in via WordPress, Google, Twitter or Facebook to enter a comment. If you choose not to add any personal information your comment will be posted as ‘anonymous’.
If you wish to add your details or use a social account when you comment, this means that you consent to these details (and social image) being displayed alongside your comment on the blog. You will therefore need to tick the ‘I agree’ checkbox on the comments form to submit your comment. Your email address will never be made public.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, the timestamp and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Akismet (owned by Automattic) is enabled on this site so visitor comments (including name, email, URL, IP address and User agent) are checked through an automated spam detection service. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. POST AND COMMENT LIKES
This feature is only accessible to users logged in to WordPress.com. In order to process a blog post like or a comment like, the following information is used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID, WordPress.com username, WordPress.com-connected site ID (on which the post was liked), post ID (of the post that was liked), user agent, timestamp of event, browser language, country code and a true/false data point that tells us if the user liked a specific comment. If you perform a like action from one of the WordPress mobile apps, some additional information is used to track the activity: IP address, user agent, timestamp of event, blog ID, browser language, country code, and device info.
COMPETITIONS
All the competitions on this website are hosted via Rafflecopter. You must be at least 13 years old to use Rafflecopter‘s services. When an individual enters a Rafflecopter giveaway, they’re able to log into the entry form in two ways – through Facebook Connect and through their name and email address combination. When you provide your email address or log in via Facebook within the Rafflecopter widget you are signing into Rafflecopter, not Cassiefairy.com. Please refer to Rafflecopter’s Privacy Policy for more information.
The details you provide within the Rafflecopter competition widget are securely stored via Rafflecopter.com and can only be viewed by the Cassiefairy.com administration account. Rafflecopter will never share or sell the data you provide when you enter a giveaway and will never email you directly. Only the giveaway admin (Cassiefairy) has direct access to the entrants’ name, email, IP, time of when they entered, and how they entered.
When you win a competition, you will be contacted via email at the address you provided when you entered the Rafflecopter giveaway. You will be emailed from my personal account cassie@cassiefairy.co.uk. If the prize is a ‘tangible’ prize, you will need to provide a delivery address of your choice so that the prize can be sent to you. This will only be used to post the prize to you and will not be stored or used in the future.
SHARING
When sharing blog post content via email the following information is used: sharing party’s name and email address (if the user is logged in, this information will be pulled directly from their account), IP address (for spam checking), user agent (for spam checking), and email body/content. This content will be sent to Akismet (also owned by Automattic) so that a spam check can be performed.
SOCIAL ACCOUNTS
If you choose to interact with me personally via social accounts, you do so using your own username and the information you provided when you signed up to the social network. This information is not stored by Cassiefairy.com and all interactions that take place on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Facebook or elsewhere are personal interactions and are stored by the website where the interaction occurs, separate from this blog.
CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). This website does not collect your personal information for analytics. The only activities tracked via Jetpack Professional are post and page views, video plays (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com), outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, and country. No personal information is collected or stored.
Data used includes IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. Important: The site owner does not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, a site owner can see that a specific post has 285 views, but he/she cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs — containing visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames (if available) — are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature. In order to record page views via WordPress.com Stats the following information is used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. When viewing an ‘infinite scroll’ homepage (such as via a mobile device) views will be tracked with each additional load (i.e. when you scroll down to the bottom of the page and a new set of posts loads automatically).

This website is protected via Jetpack Professional to guard the site against brute force login attacks, spam, data loss and harmful malware injections.

This website is installed on a https server to ensure a secure browsing experience for readers. Look for the green padlock and ‘Secure’ rating in the address bar when you access https://cassiefairy.com. When you submit your data (in comment forms, email sign-ups etc) to this website your information is encrypted and transmitted to the site via a secure connection.
