Beautifully decorated for Christmas with twinkling fairy lights, homemade decorations and cosy corners for curling up in, this barn is exactly where I’d like to be right now. Take a peek inside this warm and welcoming barn renovation in Suffolk to inspire your festive decor…
I’m delighted to be able to share my friends Alex and Matt’s newly renovated barn with you to provide some cosy Christmas decor inspiration. If you read the Christmas issue of Reclaim magazine last month you will have already had a sneak peek inside Alex and Matt’s barn, where they were featured in an 8-page spread.
I was delighted to write a festive feature all about their renovation project for the magazine and the magazine published plenty of the gorgeous photos that photographer Eric Orme took for the couple. The images showcase Alex’s homemade wreaths and festive decorating perfectly – what a cosy space to celebrate the festive season.
I was lucky enough to see the barn before the DIYing began in earnest and I actually can’t believe what Alex and Matt have achieved. By doing much of the work themselves and reusing as many of the original materials as possible the couple have transformed a tumble-down stable into a cool and cosy conversion that retains the historic feel of the original barn.
I love the way that the couple has decorated the barn for Christmas. Warm white fairy lights always make a space feel cosy and the wood burner makes the open-plan space super-snug. The large floor-to-ceiling picture window is tinted with a copper film, which means that natural daylight casts a warm glow into the living room. Beautiful.
I’m excited to be able to visit the finished barn next year – and the great news is that you can actually stay in the barn! Alex and Matt are letting out the barn for relaxing countryside breaks so visit their website Beyond The Barn to find out all about the local area and to view an amazing video tour.
If you’re thinking about having a holiday in this peaceful location you can expect to see plenty of wildlife in the private garden surrounding the barn and can cosy up in the evenings in front of the fire. Alex and Matt have provided games and magazines for you to enjoy and would encourage you to bring your favourite playlists but leave the laptop behind for a truly relaxing experience.
I hope you enjoyed this peek inside Alex and Matt’s festive guest barn and that it has given you some inspiration for your own festive decor. I personally love the rich blue and green pops of colour and that cosy bedroom is my absolute dream. Let me know what you love about this barn in the comments below 🙂
